Does anyone else do this?

I find myself always cutting my food up in very tiny peices so it takes longer to eat everything, and I feel like I'm eating so much more when in fact I'm eating like half of what I used to.... half a bagel goes a long way when you cut into little bitty peices..
is this a bad thing?

I started taking smaller bites of everything. It is a very smart idea in my opinion.0

No, why would that be a bad thing?0

It's an excellent idea. I no longer eat off of a regular plate, I use an 8" inch salad plate. Another great idea is to put your fork down, or your hands on your lap between bites. Good luck on your journey. :flowerforyou:0

It is a good idea to eat slower, but cutting food into tiny pieces can be a sign of an eating disorder. It's something I used to do when my anorexia controlled me in high school. Not to say it always is, but don't be obsessive about it with everything. Bagels, maybe try smaller bites but things like pizza that are higher in fat/calories, its a great idea.0

i'm a volume eater. i naturally tend 2 eat somethin that looks like i'm gettin more food. so i do the same thing with my foods. especially if i'm addin meat 2 my foods.
i had grilled chicken strips & it looked like enuff 4 just 2 servings so i chopped them in2 pieces & it looked like a small mound of food lol.
so naturally i was thinkin it was way 2 much 2 eat. hahaha. :laugh:0 -
I use it for portion control i think.. like I always make too much and once I get it on the plate i will start cutting it up and realize that I can actually put half of it in a left over container, because I chew it a lot of times and i get fuller fast0

That's a trick used in dog clicker training, too. Break up the doggie treat into tiny pieces and only give a little bit at a time. A dog doesn't care how much he's eating, only how many times you give him something. He's going to feel more rewarded if you give him three pieces of a biscuit three times than if you give him one whole biscuit once.0
