So, I decided I might try protein shakes, so I went shopping and there are soooo many. Found ones for pre-workout, post-workout, meal replacements. . What should I be looking for?

If you're looking for a protein supplement you need it to have a lot of protein and little to no carbs and fat. (mine is 28g Protein 3g Carbs 2g Fat) If you want a meal replacement shake then you need it to have some carbs, still really low fat, and some added vitamins and minerals is good too.0

Hey Charlie,
It depends what you are looking for that protein shake to do...
If you want just something high protein, to help with weightloss, go with a low calories protein powder... Stay away from things like Muscle Milk ect... as they are gainers, albeit tastier than some of the others Aim for 90-120cal and about 17g+ of protein from these! (some I like, Promisil (only 90cal) North Coast Naturals, IsoNatural, ect)
If you are training hard core, I mean burning 1000s of calories in a day go for something higher calorie, with even more protein 27g+ some of those also have recovery things already in them, or you can buy separate.... I am not in this category!! lol
If you are bulking up, you need stacking type...
Not sure if I helped?!?
I drink a protein smoothie almost every day as a meal replacement, I am always changing up the flavours with add ins, and upping my fruit and veggie intake. I do post about the different recipes on my blog http://www.pickynikki.ca with some mentions of the powders I use....0 -
Here's a website that explains the difference between which ones. http://ezinearticles.com/?Choosing-The-Right-Protein-Powder&id=250946

Hi there,
I rely on Premier Protein shakes; 30 grams of protein, only 1 gram of sugar, 3 grams of fat, 3 grams of fiber, lots of added vitamins, 340 in sodium... plus it tastes good in MHO. Sometimes I have one for breakfast or sometimes one for lunch or dinner...
Good luck!0
