A lower calorie hot dog bun?

Options
Has anyone had any luck finding a lower calorie hot dog bun?

The brands that my local stores carry are all between 120 - 190 calories each.

I have tried the "Flat Out" bread and the Orowheat Sandwich Thins, they are okay but don't handle the condiments quite as well as an actual bun.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Oroweat Fill'ems are whole grain, and 100cal or so. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. I like them better than regular buns.

you could always make the "undog" by using a lettuce leaf as the bun, much healthier.

I love the Sara Lee Delightful bread...I didn't know they had a hot dog bun version as well. I'm excited to see if my Walmart carries them. :)

Yep! Wonder White Wheat HD Buns are 90 cals I think...

Merita makes low cal hamburger buns as well. They are sold at Walmart but run out frequently!

    I love Healthy Life breads.

Their buns are 80 cals each.

Their white bread (which I also buy) is 35 cals per slice, and high in fiber.

Thanks all, these give me something to look for. Of the four grocery stores in my town NONE has any low calories versions. I'll be in a slightly larger area next week and check a couple of the markets there.

I didn't know this either, many of you posters. I usually would just take a piece of the 45 cal bread and use that as a bun.

Oscar Meyer has a 98% fat free frank that is only 40 calories.

I figure if I can locate some of the Sarah Lee (or have my grocer order them) I can have two hot dogs with condiments and still be well under 400 calories for the meal.

FYI I know this thread is old but Target's brand Simply Balanced has chicken hot dogs that have only 70 cals and 11g protein! They also taste amazing and very close to regular hot dogs, unlike the 98% fat free dogs I've tried (and don't like). The chicken dog is also a little bigger and more filling. With the 80 cal Sara Lee bun that's only 150 cals for a full hotdog (+ condiments) which honestly isn't too bad.
