I really want to have these last 10lbs gone. I am curious what is a realistic expectation time wise to get to goal? Is it still possible to lose 1-2lbs a week?
Will upping my exercise more then before help?

he he. Good luck with this question.
It could take a while.
Set your goal for 1/2 pound a week. Eat your exercise calories.
Good luck.

Oooh, that's a good question. Can I muscle in here straight away and say 'bump'?!0

If you have 50 plus pounds to lose, you can lose it in two weeks. If you only have 10 lbs to lose, it could take months. The only positive about being really fat, is you can lose weight faster. So more info is needed on your particular circumstance.0

Surely at half a pound a week it would take 6 months at most not a whole year!
I am on last 5lb and I am still hoping to lose 1lb ish a week- I'm only going to change my goal to 0.5 a week if I stop losing.0 -
well that's crazy- who came up with that plan?0

it has taken me almost 2 months to loose my last 10 and I still have 3 to go LOL it all depends on your foods, and exercise. I have changed up my diet a bit and exercise. Good luck0

i do a product called advocare as a dietary supplement and nutrition program. Check it out if you'd like but it has a ten day challenge to jump start your new way of life. The ten day challenge removed my ten pound plateau i had hit. i started at a size 20 now I'm a size 10/12 with 20 pounds lost and 17 inches. this worked for me. I hope you find this helpful. Good luck.0

How did you change up your diet and exercise? Did you find it helped?0 -
Good question.
I've been at it for MANY months now and seem to just hover around the same number!!!
You need to lose it slowly though I think. Set your goal as 1/2lb weight loss/week. That's where I've got mine set at and workout 30-60min/day 6 days/week and it doesn't seem to be working.
So maybe there's another solution??0 -
The answer is straight forward. You need to take in 3500 less calories than you consume to loose one lb. of fat. If you take in 2000 calories per day, and burn an additional 500 calories in exercise, and your body needs 2200 calories per day, you can progress 700 calorie per day toward your goal. That is 3500 calorie reduction in five days or about 1.4 lbs of fat per week. Figure about 7-8 weeks to loose the 10 lbs. if you stay dilligent.0

Why set yourself a goal that could be impossible to reach? By doing so, you'll be setting yourself up to fail...
Carry on doing what your doing and the 10lbs will disappear0 -
It took me about 3 months to lose the past 10 pounds. I'm not sure if it's the LAST ten pounds yet or not, but I'm very happy with my weight and size, but wouldn't object to losing a tiny bit more fat and building more muscle.
135 was my original goal. I set my goals to a half pound a week when I reached 140, and for about two months or so, I lost at a rate of about a half pound a week as scheduled. After reaching my goal I decided to only log my food (1500 calories for about a half pound a week loss) Monday through Friday and play it by ear on weekends. And since doing that, I lost another 4.5 in about a month. I also switched my goals to allow for more protein, and aim to go over on that every day.
Since eating more, I've had MUCH more strength and stamina. I can run further and faster, and on more challenging terrain. I bike faster when I use the stationary. I can go on the elliptical or arc trainer without getting totally spent. I can lift more weight and more reps. I can do pushups from the toes instead of from the knees. Hold planks longer, and straight arm instead of bent arm, etc.
So I suppose I did amp up the exercise, but my ability is amped up, too, so it doesn't FEEL like I'm working harder.
Don't fear the food. It's your friend.0 -
I'm right there with you. Last 11 to go. Originally set my goal for 165, never thought I'd make it. Changed to 155. I'm really expecting if I continue the way I'm going I should be there by the fall. Thanksgiving last year 214, Thanksgiving this year 155. Feels attainable to me. I'm not sure that my body knows it's the last 10 just that I've changed and that it feels better.
Good luck with the last 10 and feel accomplished at what you've done. Every lb gets us healthier.0 -
It really depends on what your body is used to. I just got done with an experiment. Normally I workout 2-3 times a day and never eat back even half of my cals because there's just too many. I typically lose a pound a week. This week, I just worked out once a day (if at all..I took a few rest days) and ate back almost all of my cals. I still lost 1 pound. For me, 10 pounds takes about 2 months. Step up your workouts (or take them down a notch depending on what you do) and eat a little differently. Sometimes you can shock your body into losing quicker. Good luck!0

This taken from a very famous "Banks" post:
Phase 5. End game.
5 or 6 months in you are probably working on that "last 10 pounds". This can be discouraging for many as it is a slow burn. Remember, your body probably feels like it is where it needs to be, your brain might think you need to lose 10 more, but your body is quite proud of itself now, it feels like it has "Done enough" and it wants to stay RIGHT HERE. The body LIKES to have a little fat around just in case, especially for the ladies (sorry girls, it's just human physiology). If you feel like you still need to lose it, prepare yourself for some guerrila warfare against your body. Design an exercise regimen that is very dynamic, forget the "same thing every day". Make a plan that challenges you both physically and mentally. Make sure you give yourself a day off here and there to just veg. And by all means, remember, muscle burns fat at rest. So get some weight or resistance training involved.
The last 10 may take 3 to 6 months to lose. I know nobody wants to hear that, but it's true. And forget the idea of increasing your calorie deficite, healthy bodies need good nutrition, your body no longer has the fat reserves to handle the large deficites you could when you were 30 40 or 50 pounds overweight. Better to make it a 3 or 400 calorie deficite (NET, please count your exercise calories too!). It may take a bit longer, but your body will like you for it. Plus it feeds those new muscles and keeps them burning fat, keeps your skin healthy (elasticity is important when you want those places that were stretched out to "snap back") and keeps you from getting head aches and depressed.0 -
Thats a really good question.. I'm on to my last 10 pounds(last 7 now) and I still have it set at a pound a week.. but I upped my activity level to lightly active so that I could have a bit more calories to play around with.. because I workout about 3-4 days a week, doing cardio/strength training, and seeing a trainer twice a month. So far it seems to be working and I'm two away from the last 5.. so once I hit that mark, I may go down to half a pound if things really stall out.0
