Hi everyone.

Recently joined this site - a transplant from a different calorie counting website. I LOOOVEE the mobile apps here! So simple. Plus, over one week there has yet to be a food I cannot find in the database. A HUGE improvement from the last site I was on.

However, I do find the forums here a bit intimidating. So many acronyms. What in the world is NSV? Or these rowing teams? I'm so lost. I'm used to monthly or quarterly weigh-in groups.

As for my weight loss history - I have been an athletic build, size 6 since high school. On my 30th birthday, I stepped on the scale and it read 130. I cried.

LOL. 130? I would beg, borrow or steal to weigh 130 lbs now! After some devastating life changes, I gained 50 lbs over the span of two years.

I have been an on-again-off again dieter since then. Lost 20 lbs, gained 30 back. Lost 10, gained 5 lbs back. As my 40th birthday fast approaches, my goal is to be 40 lbs lighter by 40. I am serious about this goal and refuse to date again until I'm at least a size 8.

Wish me luck! I'm confident that this site and mobile app will help me achieve my goal.

You sound like me....I remember weighing 128 and being upset and now I would LOVE to be anything under 150. I will be 40 in January so my goal is to be better at 40 than I was in my thirties! We can do it!

Welcome - the acronyms I've learned are:
NSV - Non-Scale Victory (lost inches, smaller pants, someone goosed me... lol what have you)
TOM - female term for Time of the Month - sorry - didn't even really like typing it but you'll see it lol

    Those are the main two

As for the rowing teams - i think they are people who compete or have completed various challenges put out by people on the site - but I'm honestly not sure ;)

Welcome though - it is fantastic to have you!

Thanks so much for the definitions, C.J.!

I can't wait for the NSV "someone goosed me" lol. In college if someone goosed me, I would have slapped them. Now I'd hug 'em!

Congratulations on over 100 lbs lost! Amazing.
