feeling lost

So coming out of the gate I got to see results from simple changes, like quitting soda, or doing any exercise. Now I am suddenly at the point where I am making an effort and the results are soooo sloowwwwww. I know I need to tweak my eating some and I also know that when the weather cools some I will be able to do more outside with my kids and include them in the exercise but for right now I feel like I am floundering,

Looking at your diary the biggest thing that stands out to me is the amount of highly processed foods. Your sodium intake doesn't show but I would bet it's really high. You may consider cutting back on this foods and adding more fiber rich foods, like produce.
Good job on the weight you've lost and best of luck in your journey.0 -
Don't try to do everything at once, change one thing at the time and gradually adapt to a new lifestyle. That way you'll be able to maintain what you achieve.0

Hi Jenny,
One thing that really helped me see some very good results was switching from packaged or processed foods (not my Grand's Biscuits Noooo!! lol) which would make me pretty tired or downright groggy to eating more fresh fruits and veggies. That, and I starting doing some protein and fiber shakes (I use EAS chocolate powder with Yerba psyllium for mine). Doing that alone, exercise aside seemed to help me feel better and helped me to start losing inches off the waist right away. Give it a shot, I swear it gets addicting and makes a trip to the produce section to see what's fresh and ripe quite a bit of fun!
Stick with this, you can do it because YOU are in control here0 -
I agree with the group so far, too! Change can be overwhelming so maybe try for a change a week until you feel comfortable with one change and can start another. Remember - it isn't a race. It's about lifestyle changes. You want to be able to live with the changes you make not feel like a victim of them.
The othe key is DO NOT GIVE UP! That is exactly what your body is begging for - for you to give up. Right now you are making it VERY uncomfortable and it is fighting you. I remember when I started here and was so doing everything right but very little was happening! It is very frustrating, but give yourself time. Your body can only resist for so long before it starts dropping the weight. And also don't expect more than a pound a week. Sometimes you might see more and sometimes you might see less. But keep a steady course of doing the right things.
Eat produce!
Eat less processed foods and more whole foods.
Eat whole grains
Season your food with herbs and spices.
enjoy the seasonal veggies and fruits.
Drink your water and do some exercise that you like and you'll do great! Some eat their exercise calories and some don't. You'll have to see what works for you. Try eating at least half of them.
Good luck!0 -
Small changes over time add up. My best advice add an apple and about 3 ounces of carrots a day. Excellent additions of fiber and plenty of nutrients.0

I actually miss my produce, we had a rough couple of weeks financially and we have been eating out of the pantry almost exclusively.0

I don't know if you'll come back to your post, but if you do - try to find some local produce places in the area. It's easy when you live close to some farmland to find a produce stand in the middle of everyday life. But when you buy locally (not in your grocery store) it tends to be cheaper. I buy a ridiculous amount of produce on just a few dollars. Good luck!0

I feel you. I'm in the same boat. It's like my body has thrown a temper tantrum and refuses to lose anymore weight. I've only lost 2 lbs since middle of May. ugh. I'm attempting tweaks for a week or two at a time, to see if it helps. I'm running out of tweaks to try.0

Every time I've tried diet and exercise in a way where I "saw results quickly", I would gain the weight back as quickly as I lost it.
Don't give up!! I'm on medication which slows down my already slow metabolism, so I feel in the same boat as you. The key is really to stick to what you know--as everyone says here, eat more produce and fiber. (We've been brainwashed by commercial food interests to think that junk food satisfies, but there's nothing better than the stuff from God's green earth!). Also, change your mindset so that exercise is not a "chore" to get over with like washing the dishes or doing laundry, but more like play, which you look forward to every day. Instead of driving to places, bike to places (keep track of how much money you save--given the price of gas, just a short bike ride of 6 miles is like finding a crisp dollar bill on the ground!!)
I know these things are easier said than done, but I guess my point is, slow and steady wins the race. This is a marathon, not sprint. We're all pulling for you (and you're definitely NOT alone!!)0
