I am so, so happy with the progress I have made getting back into running! I started in January with "just" walking, and am now up to intervals of one minute walk / one minute run. As you can see from the brown line on the graph, I have been steadily chipping away at my average pace. When I started, I was walking at 20+ minutes per mile, and now when I break out my intervals, my walking pace is 16 min/mile and I am running at 12 min/mile! I participated in my first 10K since high school on Independence Day -- that would be 20 years since the last time. I finished in exactly 90 minutes, a pace of 15 min/mile overall (or 4 mph) -- just like I had been training for it or something! hahaha I am so proud of myself for getting back into it!

The yellow line on the graph is the distance -- I started in January at 2 miles, increased to 7 over the next three months, then did it again from April -- June. I am just at the beginning of a third round to do it again! The group I am training with offers plans for 10K, half-marathon, and marathon. I am working on continuing to get faster and fitter before I go farther. We'll see about moving up to the half-marathon group come 2012...

I don't have a particular goal, such as getting back to my high school cross country pace (7 min/mi for 5K and 8 min/mi for 10K). I am just taking it as it comes and enjoying the ride. :)

Ok, the picture of the graph now:
