Hi advise please!!! Ok so I reached my goal weight (133lb) and started maintance on Thursday getting a hugh 1820 calories per day a big jump from my 1300. So Thursday I ate 1425 and Friday 1353 have it admit was finding it hard to eat the new calories. Last night had a BBQ and I had the biggest dinner I have had in months and my daily count was 1598 which is still under.
Now I checked in this morning and I have gained 1lb this is the first time since I started MFP I have ever gained sure I had lots of slow and stand still weeks but never went up so I'm not happy this was my biggest fear about maintaining and I didn't even eat might calories for the day and the rest of my days were good and I did my exercise. Now I know its only 1lb so that not the concern the concern is that 3 days on maintance and I gained is this normal????

Try bumping it up just 100-150 calories per week until you hit maintenance cals.
Some of what you gained may also be water from more carbs and sodium than you're used to eating, too.
But I'd try gradually going up to maintenance cals rather than doing it all in one fell swoop.0 -
Was your 'high' meal particularly salty or carby as that will show as a temp gain and be gone in a couple of days as long as you resume normal service.0

3 days..seriously.
listen..we all especially women, fluctuate in our weight even from plus or minus 5 lbs, sometimes on a daily basis. the reasons for this are bloat, bowel contents etc. not body fat. dont worry about it.0 -
Yeah, weighing the day after your "high" meal?
Bad idea.0 -

Yes actually it was a BBQ and I planned to have my green salad and one minute steak and 2 sausages but they were so yummmy and I had the extra calories I ate 4 and I also had extra potato salad and I've not been eatting potatoes at all!!! Feeling a bit calmer if that is the case I don't even check-in on a Sunday but I was so aware I ate a big dinner I couldn't help it will stay away from the scales till offical check-in day and hope it gone again not even going to log in on my home page as I couldn't face looking at a gain - thanks guys0 -
This is why my scales live in the garage!!!they are too unpredictable and play with my head...I did an experiment one morning, weighed in and it said I had put on 4lbs overnight, 3 hours later I had lost it again! I think you should listen to your body when it comes to eating and upping calories, I refuse to eat more than I feel like eating, it just doesn't make sense??0

I know you are so right I need a good kick - but it hard getting my head around maintance after months of strict calories I really need to just chill I think - thanks0 -
My weight changes by up to about 3 pounds a day! I"ve gotten used to just weighing in the am, and seeing what it says but only log on Sundays' as thats my weigh in day for MFP. I only do it to see where I am for the week. Must always take into acct....TOM week, eating a a heavier meal the night before, drinking more water, etc
I can totally see how maintainance can be scary....Someday, I'll be there to0 -

Second, my advice would be for you to Relax!
Don't be a weight weenie! 1 lb gain, Seriously! My weight varies +/- 4 lbs depending on hydration levels. Higher salt content in restraunt food will cause some water retention. You WILL fluctuate, but don't worry that it is all fat. i just came back from 10 days of camping where my wife and I ate out a few nights. I ran a 10k, 5k, 2 mile sprint, and climbed a mountain during that time and still came back +7 lbs! 5 days later I am +1 from when I left.
Track your weight for a few weeks on maintenance, but don't sweat it. Your weight WILL normalize!0 -
Thanks everyone your post have been great would be lost without MFP support :flowerforyou:0
