Juicer

Hey everyone! I have decided to get a juicer to incorporate more fruits and vegetables and was wondering what brand you would recommend. I've done a little research and it seems like the one I really want is only available 4 1/2 hours away and I'm not going that far for one and it's not available online. :grumble: I've done a little research on Jack Lalanne (sp.) juicers and they seem to be the next best thing but reading a couple reviews they don't do well with leafy greens which is what I would be incorporating a lot of. Any suggestions please???

I used one of Jack's for a while but, decided to by a Hamilton Big Mouth. Couldn't have been happier. It was cheaper, the motor was stronger, and the pulp is left drier.

Ok... I'm gonna tell you about juicers.... I LOVE juicing!!! I've slacked off a little lately, but will be getting back into it!...MY parents bought a Champion juice LITERALLY like 14 years ago. It is HEAVY DUTY it sits on the counter and there are many attachments for it! If I could be a sales rep for Champion juicers I would... They are the BIGGEST bang for your buck - they last FOREVER!! They've also come out with a "leafy greens" - type of attachment that processes wheatgrass too!! there are different screens for w and w/o pulp also, this juicer takes out virtually ALL of the juice - the "pulp" that comes out is SUPER dry!! and you can use it to make bran muffins or breads or whatever!!! I've tried many cheaper juicers like sharper image / jack lalane / etc... SOOOOO much juice is WASTED and you'd have to run the WET pulp BACK through a couple more times to get everything out..... I'm just sayin... they're about $230 to $250 depending on which model you want and come in a few different colors.... spend the extra money and get a appliance that actually does what it's supposed to!!

I PROMISE!!! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!

...and I'll add, when you run the WET PULP BACK through, you're still not going to get the majority of the juice out with wet fruits or veggied (berries, apples, tomatos...) with the cheap ones...

Does it juice leafy greens very well?

I got a 40$ juicer from Wallmart- a Black & Decker one. I wanted to buy a cheep one because I didn't know how serious I'd be about juicing-but the little guy works great! I know some may say you need to buy one that's 100$ or more my pulp is way dry and it's super easy to clean. I'd suggest not splurging right away unless you know you want to be juicing for another 5 years or so.

    Best of luck!

Thanks much! I agree about not splurging. I'm trying to see if my mom will let me borrow her Jack Lalanne (again sp.) but I think she uses it a lot and we're 2 1/2 hours apart...

Great thanks! I got a hold of my mom's (getting it tomorrow) so we'll see how that holds up and then where to go from there. Thanks again everyone! Any other advice is still appreciated
