Need motivation...

Hey, if any of you have read my blog/status, you'll probably know why. I 'm just feeling really down lately because I went way over board on friday, and shot up from 184 to 187/188....I'm currently at 188/187.5, and I thouight I'd be back down to 184 by now. Does this mean I actually could have gained 4 pounds in one day? Or was I maybe just not a 'real' 184?? Weigh-in's on monday. I fell like blah...I';ve been doing better since then, but not great.

The problem is when I overate on friday, I didn't count the calories (it was a homemde recipe and i didn't get the ingredients before eating), so I don't know if i really consumed so much as to actually gain that much weight.

I want to turn this into sth positive, like a go-to experience- whenever I feel like overdoing it, I can remember the time I ruined all my efforts in one day and hopefully not do it again. but I still need a pick-me-up though...

  • its pretty hard to gain 4 pounds in one day its more likely you ate alot of salt and retaining water drink lots of water for a couple of days and it should be gone

"ruined all my efforts in one day" <-- can't really be done.

You only ruin all your efforts when you quit completely, which you obviously aren't doing. We all have our occasional "over" days, and for many of us, our weight swings like a pendulum noticeably from day to day. So I don't think you should stress about one meal two days ago.

If you're a scale junkie and check the scale every day, my suggestion might be to keep track of those weights, and then record the week's average on "weigh-in" day. That will give you a more realistic picture of how things are going, and avoids the chance of weigh-in day happening on an upswing of that weight pendulum.

Or track your body fat percentage instead of the number on the scale, it will give you a better idea of how things are going. http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/cbbf

The most important thing is that you're committed to your new lifestyle, and THAT is why you're SUCCEEDING!

    Take care,

    Rob

PS. I weighed 189 (my lowest in 15 years) on Friday, and on Saturday I weighed 194 and I've been at or under my calorie target. :)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses.

And especially Rob, for the website (which is less of a pain than getting it checked at the gym!) and for the motivation. It really helped me out :) Hopefully back on track this week. And you knw what, I think I'm back at 186! ;)
