Ladies: I have an aunt flo question. (Relating to diet and fitness)
Well, I'm embarrassed to be making this public, but I'm really concerned. I've been on BC for regularity since September, and never had this problem.. but I think my body is skipping Aunt Flo this month. I was supposed to get it Friday.. it is now Sunday. It never comes late on BC. At least it shouldn't. There is NO possible way that I am preggers, so keep that in mind! :P But, could it be because of my strict diet and fitness that she has a mind of her own this month? Sorry to be blunt, but I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else here.. whether you're on BC or not.

Yes. It can happen whether on BC or not because of diet. Strangely enough, dieting effects hormones because of what we are putting in our system and how its reacting.0

Did you take all your pills on time? And sometimes when I get to my inactive pills, it takes a few days for my body to realize I stopped taking pills, but sometimes I get it right away. I'd say give it maybe 2 more days and then if you don't get it maybe have it checked out.0

Oh for sure. BC can do wonders nf your hormones, but so can changing your daily habits. No need to fret. Once your body gets adapted to the change, it should get back to normal, but sometimes not at all. Just depends on how hard you are on your body.0

My BC now messes with mine like crazy. About 75% of the time I don't get it. I've learned not to worry to much about it. Idk why it's so messed up! I'm on loestrin, so I guess it depends? I'm not sure. My doc told me not to worry about it.0

Yep! I'm pretty good about it! But hopefully you're right, and it's just late rather than completely skipping. That can't be healthy!0 -

Ah, okay thanks! My BC now messes with mine like crazy. About 75% of the time I don't get it. I've learned not to worry to much about it. Idk why it's so messed up! I'm on loestrin, so I guess it depends? I'm not sure. My doc told me not to worry about it.
Good to hear I'm not alone. I'm on Loestrin too. Now I'm considering changing prescription though because the past few months it has just been out of whack.0 -
skipping a period on BC shouldn't happen. But there are some reasons it might. One for sure is stress. Stress has caused me to be sooo late before I was getting pregnancy scares! It depends on the TYPE of BC you're on too. If I were you, I would really call your doc and ask. I also know that if you are too thin and undernourished, your time of the month can stop- which is definitely not good.0

Yeah, I mean it has only been 2 days, so I hope it's still coming, but it's still strange to me. I will call this week if it stays like this. And I am sure not thin and undernourished :P0 -
dieting and a whole heap of other factors affect your monthly flow, stress is a major factor and has caused me to either miss mine, or at times given me a little extra visit from 'aunt flo' so dont panic, also, the worrying about why its not there yet can cause it to stay away. its fine, maybe get it checked out if its not there next month. if you have lost a lot of weight recently that can also cause it to vanish temporarily. if you are still concerned, talk to your gp or gynie.
good luck :-)0 -

Additionally, if you are having a bunch of fiber right around the time you take the pill, or if you eat grapefruit, it can affect the efficacy of the pill. I can't see your diet so I can't really say, but you may want to take your food log with you to your doc and show that to her along with when in the day you are taking the pill.0

Thanks, that's good advice!0 -
I have been off the pill for several months now, but even when I was on it, when I was training really hard and cutting my calories really low, I had issues. My gyno had to change my Rx a couple times as I lost weight. This month it came 2 weeks late...showed up as soon as I rested and carbed up for my race.0

it could be your diet and level of activity, ever since i started watching what i ate and working out often, my flow actually got significantly lighter. i'm not on bc but i'd imagine with the hormones of the pill and a lifestyle change your body may need time to absorb it all0

not on BC at all but last month I had AF (aunt flow) show up twice in full force both times It sucked but I asked the dr and she said it was do to my life style change and it would regulate again. So far this month has been fine and I should be dew next week if its back on track from the last day of the last one lol.0

i have had this happen to me before. it took about 3 months to come back and that was after going to the doctor to get medicine to start it back up again.0

I'm in a similar boat, but kind of the opposite -- I've been on birth control for years, and can pretty much tell you when my period will come down to the hour, but in the last 3 weeks, I've changed my diet and starting working out a lot more. Mine was almost a week EARLY. Same flow, lasted the same amount of time as usual (about 3 days + 1 day of light spotting)... Just early. Kinda caught me off guard, but it's totally normal for a new diet and fitness routine to mess with your cycle -- whether it's late or early or skipped altogether.0
-
It's not uncommon once or twice a year for you cycle to be late. For some reason, the uterus and ovaries seem to think they need to change the cycle a bit. I'd give it a week.. If you haven't started my next weekend, I would look into making an appointment to see your gyn.0

Yes this can happen(esp if you take Loestrin 24FE, which is known to stop periods entirely.)
It happened to me back in april and when I saw my doc in may, I asked her and she said it was normal. Granted it was a one time thing for me, but I wouldn't mind if it happened again!0 -
Thanks everyone!! This is really settling my nerves0
