Hi all, I'm new here, just started tracking this week. I am at a low spot in my life and have decided to try to do something about it instead of feeling sorry for myself.
I have tried all the weight loss plans from Atkins to Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig with no success. I've done Phen-fen back before they knew it was "bad" and metabolife 356. Now I'm trying to do it with calorie counting and exercise.
I'm discouraged because I've lost weight before, and always gained it back again, plus more. I am at the highest I've ever been and am so afraid of gaining more.
I need to make a change for my 2 beautiful daughters, so they won't go through the yo-yo weight problems I have.
It is so frustrating listening to these skinny women who say they can eat anything and everything they want and never gain an ounce, yet I eat EXACTLY what they do and I am considered a slob, lazy, and a pig.
I could really use some encouragement I've tried and failed so many times.

Hun your story sounds like mine! I have tired all those things except you need to add Thurman's 30 day weight loss and Richard Simmons Deal a Meal.... lol..
I've spent thousands over the last two decades.. only to be at my highest also. I started My Fitness Pal (MFP) in June of 2011 and I'm loving this site .. and it's FREEEEEEEE!!!!! Can you believe it? After all that i've spent .. lol.
A little tip. My whole family is now on it too.. My hubby, daughter, heck even my mother is on it.. lol. and we're all having great success! Of course they don't have as much to lose as I do but theyre all coming along great.
My husband has lost 30 pounds, I have lost 24, My daughter has lost 16 and my mother has lost 7.
I KNOW for a FACT that this works! So Don't give it half a try.. put in 100% and you'll see results too.
Friend me if you want a cheerleader in your corner :flowerforyou:

Hi! I hear ya! I didn't get my act together until I was 50 and then I did some more backsliding and feel that I'm finally going to succeed and lose all the weight this time! I am finally down to the final eleven pounds. Read my profile for the gory details if you like!
I've been on the "heavy side" my entire life. I know what you mean. I do believe that "diets" don't work but true lifestyle changes do. For myself, I decided what I would do and what I wouldn't do in food and exercise. I took the lifestyle approach because it works for me. I want to nail it this time and live with my program til I drop in my tracks. I do'nt want to have to "learn" a new way of eating AGAIN, or have to change my exercise plan AGAIN! I want to make those changes and be happy with them now ......which I am!
My turning point was eating all whole foods. Dropping the white flours (white pastas, white rice, etc.) and all sugars, and saturated fats. THIS time around I also made a pact with myself to follow my new eating behaviors TO THE LETTER for the first 90 days to fully ingrain my new good habits. I think that really helped to get my head in the right spot!
I do have a little "bad for me food" once in a while now, but i try to keep it down to a few bites here and there and it isn't a daily or even weekly thing. By eliminating the white flour and sugar from my diet for the first time in my life i feel in control of food. Food has always controlled me in the past and I felt victimized by it because "I was weak". 2 weeks was about my "diet" tolerance before I would go nuts and eat crap again. But this time is different! I read the Dr. Oz book YOU: on a Diet and it really helped my head realize that I was killing myself. Also another website www.fatloser.com helped me find my bootstraps this time. No money, no spam, only help.
There is lots of help to be found here and you can find the experts right here who can answer you questions just by making a post! You came to an excellent spot! Best of luck to you on your journey!0
