Whew...it's an eye opener and a half when you start logging those foods you THOUGHT were good for you!!! :noway:
Do be sure that you watch the serving size...for example, if the serving size on the milk was 1 cup you'd have to tell it .25 of a serving, as you only had a 1/4 cup.
Next, get some exercise and log it...watch your daily calories increase (yeah!!!!!) and if you haven't read the thread about eating your exercise calories be sure to read it.

Third, begin to develop a 'library' of lower calorie snacks and meals. I like some of the Yoplait's which are only about 100 cal, or Wasa Rye bread/crackers, 3 of them are under 100. ( Yeah, some folks say they taste and crunch like card board but I like em.....)
BTW....79 lbs lost, you MUST be doing something right...way to go!!!!
Hope this helps....0 -
Breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day to start your day on the right track and metabolism too.
If you pick right choices for your snacks and meals you should be fine with that amount of calories. You might want to plan your meals ahead of time and add them up to see how much you can and can't have. And you might be hungry either way cause you are new at this so your body might be hungry while it adjusts to the lower calories. But if you are super starving have a little something, if you go over your calories a little bit it will do no harm.

If 1200 calories feels like you're starving, then check what your BMR calories are and at least eat that amount! The BMR calculator (under the tools tab on this site) measures how many calories you would burn if you just layed in bed all day. If you only eat that amount and add some exercise, or at least walking around and doing your daily activities, you will burn those calories off, lose weight, and not feel so deprived! The weight loss might be a bit slower, but at least it will be something that you can maintain for a lifetime and not get burned out so quickly! I hope this helps! Good luck! :flowerforyou:0

I usually do breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and then depending when I ate dinner sometimes a snack before bed. Try the different ways and see which is better for making you feel full. As long as you get your daily calories, you can adjust it to what works best for you.0 -

Just guessing from the amount you still have to lose, but it sounds like you aren't eatting enough.
I did what was suggested above - to eat about your BMR calories - and that is when this MFP thing really started to work for me. I am hungry sometimes, but unless I have a really poorly planned day then I don't usually end up starving. Try switching to 1.5lbs a week or 1 lb a week on your goals. I think the more realistic it is to do then the more we are likely to keep doing it!
Also, try to exercise to get in some extra calories and up your protein intake. Protein will keep you fuller, longer.
You can do this! :flowerforyou:0 -
I've recently increased my daily calorie intake, started at 1200 a day but even with my exercise calories I felt like I wasn't getting enough - felt weak and shaky. So I changed my profile to only losing 1 lb per week rather than losing 2 and increased my cal's by 150 per day and of course my exercise cal's. I've seen a huge difference now that I'm eating more, the weight is coming off easier surprisingly!
I do breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and if I'm still hungry (before 8:30pm) I have 1 more small snack. Try to avoid eating about 2 hrs prior going to bed. Seems to be working for me!0 -

wow, someone who understands.
It's a harsh reality when you type in your & see how few calories you can really have a day.
I've been filling up on salad & water....so far so good.

It gets easier! It is daunting to think you only have 1200 calories and before you know it you will be complaining you have 500 extra cals from exercise and WHAT can you eat!
An idea of a good day for me, with exercise of 200-300 cals.
3/4 cup Special K Protein
1/4 cup blueberries
1/2 cup skim milk
5 tblspn powdered creamer for my must have cup of coffee!
1 stick low fat mozzerella cheese
5 strawberries
2 slices of Pepperidge Farms Lite Oatmeal Bread
1 can water packed Tuna
1 slice lemon
1 tbls spoon low fat mayo or homemade Italian dressing with olive oil
1 or 2 cups romaine lettuce
1/4 tomato
2 tablespoons of hummus
6 baby carrots.
4 oz broiled chicken
1 small baked potato
1 cup steamed broccolli
1 tblspoon plain greek yogurt on the potato
Now that is a LOT of food in a day. it is no more than 1200-1400 calories.
Someone once said the closer the food is to its original form, the lower in cals and the better for you. So any veggie or fruit is going to be low cal pretty much ( watch for avacados and sugars in juices!) Also SERVING size is very important.
I bought a digital scale, a set of measuring cups and spoons..
Good luck to you ! I just noticed you have lost a lot of weight! Good for you for searching for new ways to enhance your weight loss journey.0 -
