Hi Everyone!!
I'm joining MFP for the second time and looking to get into shape after 2 kids "the right way" so that I may keep off the extra weight and be healthy I'm looking for friends on here to keep me motivated and accountable. I have been running for about a month now and run 1.5-2 miles 4-6 times a week, and do one long run on the weekends. I will do some weight training or rowing machine at the gym to switch up about 1-2 times a week as well. I'm thinking about running a 1/2 marathon in November if I can keep up the training. I'm really enjoying exercising and really want to continue even as I start a new job next week and go back to school at the end of august.

Welcome! I also just joined, and I'm starting to get into running! I try to run 5k a few times a week if I don't have too much volleyball going on. I should start running more in November... I can't wait!0

I love running now (used to hate it though), now I try to go as much as possible and it doesn't feel right if I don't exercise in the mornings. Do you play volleyball on a team?0

Welcome back!
I always admired those who could run to and from work as a mode of transport... but never believed that I was fit enough to do it.
Now I live 5.5km from my workplace and I'm slowly getting there - doing 3-4 interval run/walks as a commute home each week. I struggle to run for 6 minutes at a time right now but I hope to get to the point where I can easily do 30 minutes straight.
I'm determined to get there eventually. And building in my run into my everyday commute makes it feel essential instead of optional. Even though each run is hard at the moment it still beats sitting in a bus crawling through traffic!0 -
I am new here as well and would love to have some motivating friends! I am trying to make myself a runner:)0

what has really helped me is having a running buddy and doing interval training so I can keep up a conversation during the run...once you get past that "I hate running" part you start to love it. Good luck!0 -

I don't think I could actually run to work- I think it's about 10 miles away I just need to make sure I keep waking up at 5:00 everyday to do my runs before work, and be very vigilant about scheduling time for my thesis/coursework so it doesn't interfer with my exercise time. I really love the way I'm feeling from exercising and taking care of myself now- I have soo much more energy! That awesome you can do 6 minutes straight! I can run about a mile straight in 10 mins now, but would like to be able to do 2 at the same pace. Good luck to you in your goals as well!0
