What do you do when you throw up your meal???

This morning I had an eggcellent garden omelet  and a pear. On the way to work, I got sick and threw up twice. I'm pretty sure everything except the pear came up. I wondered why I was sick until the shooting lights came and then the migraine kicked in.  What do you log when you get sick? I don't know if I should just put everything I ate in to my food diary or not???? I probably shouldn't worry about it, but I am . I want to go home

I'd still put it in my food diary.0

I am so sorry to hear that you are sick. In my opinion, if it came back up then technically, you didn't eat it so don't log it. I hope you feel better soon.0

I would log it all and make sure i drank plenty of water as well0
-
Maybe only log half of it? Sorry you're not feeling well.0

log it. because when you throw food up youve already digested some of it. if you dont throw blood up then you still have something in your stomach0

Go home!0

Go home!
good idea0 -
I don't think it's really important log it or not .. make things to get better and that is the most important ... if you are hungry for an extra snack at the end of the day, you should eat it ...
Loosing weight is so much more than only mathematics !
Take care of you .. THAT is the important part here!!!0 -
1.) Go Home.
2.) How long before you got sick did you eat? If it was within 30 minutes, hardly anything has even had the chance to digest. If you are concerned, log only half of everything you ate.
As for the "throwing up blood thing"....You can have an empty stomach and not through up blood. Coming from someone who had an eating disorder in my younger years, you can throw up bile and other stomach fluids...If you are throwing up blood, there is something else entirely wrong. I wouldn't take that piece of advice very closely.0 -

Not correct at all.0 -
Depends on how much time passed between when you ate and when you got sick. It takes anywhere from 2 to 3 hours for what you've eaten to leave your stomach and enter your small intestines.

I would just log calories fractionally based on the time between when you ate and when you got sick.0 -
I don't log on sick days, whether it's from a throat/sinus thing, or gastrointestinal upset. I just focus on getting better and don't worry about the calories or nutrients or sodium or anything like that. I don't want the added stress of "I know I should eat more, but I can't swallow" (in the case of a sore throat), or "these Saltine crackers have a lot of sodium" (for an upset stomach).
Step away from the computer.Put a cold washcloth over your eyes and let the headache pass.

If I got sick (twice!) that soon after eating I wouldn't log it. I think getting sick is a special exception to logging food. Being slightly off for today's calorie total won't totally derail you. Do drink plenty of fluids and try again when your stomach feels more stable. Migraines suck immensely (I've had them for 12yrs). I hope you feel better soon :flowerforyou:0

i would log it for maybe half. because your body did absorb some of the nutrients from it, probably not much though. hope you feel better soon.0

I figure that if I eat it, I should log it.
That said...I don't worry so much at the end of that day, if I go over my calories just a little.0 -
First of all, I hope you feel better soon.
Second of all, don't stress over logging it. It will only make your migraine worse. Just eat wiser the rest of the day. Your stomach just breaks it down, your small intestine absorbs it. It depends on your metabolism on how fast things move through your system.

You still count it as the stomach starts to work on the sugars/carbs in your food etc straight away. If a Diabetic is ill after a meal and has already had his/her insulin the stomach is already starting to digest the food.
Depending on the quantity and contents of the meal, the stomach will digest the food into chyme anywhere between 40 minutes and a few hours before it then travels onward.
So see the food counts as you will have already started the digestive journey. Or something pretty close to that anyway.0 -
I ate from 7:15-7:25 (in a hurry) I thre w up at 7:35. I was driving down road talking to husband on phone and had to pull over to get sick. I hurt0

^ I agree with this. When I have a migraine, the last thing I think about is how many calories I'm consuming. Just get some rest and take care of yourself. It's just one day. I wouldn't worry about it.0 -
hugs
go home
drink lots of fluids and get some rest
logging can wait until tomorrow when your feeling better and you can add a note to the bottom of your diary that you where under the weather that day (hence not logging and being off line for some needed rest)0 -
If you dont log anything at all for today MFP wont take this day in count when it'll do your weekly net calories ...log it. because when you throw food up youve already digested some of it. if you dont throw blood up then you still have something in your stomach
If you EVER vomit blood .. you dont even take time to wonder if you had something left in the stomach ; GO TO THE ER !!!0
