Sore Ribs with Ab Workouts?

I've just started a new abdominal workout that I've been doing for about a week. I've had some seriously sore lower ribs (on the front) since I started. I'm wondering if it's related to the ab workout. I have digestive issues that make my lower ribs (where my intestines curve) hurt a lot, and also some lesions on my brain that my neurologist says can cause pain in random places. Since it could be some other things, I'm curious if anyone else has had similar soreness with ab workouts. Just wondering whether to mention it to my neuro at my next appointment.

Mention it anyway because it COULD be something, but it's probably not. You abdominal muscles actually reach to either your ribs or very close to them, so working the abs can hurt the lower ribs if you push yourself hard. So don't worry, but do mention it, just in case.

Thanks for the responses. It's definitely a different kind of rib pain than I usually get. Since I've been eating healthier and taking medicine for early multiple sclerosis symptoms, I haven't been having any pain caused from health issues. I'll mention it anyway, but I'm glad to hear it's probably just because of a good workout and not my medicine failing.
