I keep starting my "day one" it seems like almost every week. I am trying to finally lose weight the healthy way now. Tried Atkins (bout 6 times...it worked, yet I'm back), tried WW (it worked too...yet I'm back). Now I am focusing on getting at least 45 minutes of cardio a day and my calories are set at 1200. I am going to try and stray away from the weights until I start losing a bit more, so that I don't bulk up(has been my problem in the past). Also, the first time I REALLY lost weight was after my though child....I was in my mid 20's, and all I did was walk. I know I am older now, but shouldn't that still work?

I do have a questiont though, it 1200 the default? I played with minimum work outs, sedentary lifestyle, etc...and it all came back to 1200 calories a day to lose 1-2 pounds per week? Everything else looks fine and it seems as if this method very closely mimics WW. I actually prefer it more. Here's to DAY 2...

Hi and welcome to day one. I can relate to the restarts. Like you, I was back and forth between Atkins and WW. I believe that any program works as long as you look at that plan as a committed approach to eating, not just dieting.
The 1200 calorie default is pretty common, and if you stick with it, with the 45min cardio, you will lose 1-2 pounds per week. If you up your exercise, then you will need to tweak your calories. There's so much advice and support here, you've definitely come to the right place!!

Thanks Cocoma! That felt good. I see you are on a good track as well. I actually gained 6lbs in the last 4 weeks (weighed in at the doc today). I was trying to keep my wiegh ins to once a week, no clothes, same time each week so that I can get a better picture.
Today at the docs office, I had on the same outfit I used when I weighed in before, so I think that is a pretty accurate count.

I will set my next weigh in for next week (Mon) back to the old plan (no clothes, once per week). Thanks again for the words of support. Keep up the good work on your end!
