The big 50 is creeping up on me. (December 2011)...I am 150 pounds over weight, I want to be on the road to "thinner me" by the time the New Year rolls in. I quit smoking 3 years ago October...I can do this. I want to LIVE the second half of my life instead of sitting on the sidelines wishing I was living.
So here I go again.
Commitment.
Day one, so far all I can think of is food and what can i eat next, not a good start, I will have to work on that.
so HELLO world, my name is Kez, and I'm changing my life before I leave it!

Hi I am Angie. I have yo-yo dieted forEVER! I also quit smoking, so I know your pain. I replaced the addiction of smoking with food! Does it ever end! I have about 30-40 pounds I could stand to lose. I am starting to count calories today. I hope I can do this.
Any good food advice or recipes, please send my way. Good luck to you Kez. You can do it. The hard part is over. Smoking is not easy to quit. BUT you will smell a lot better and feel better when you breathe. Thats a reward in itself.0 -

You CAN do this! We are all here to help I fully admit those first few days were not pleasant. What helped me was lots of water and tea, and if I was at the point of munch or go insane I left the house (string bag on my back with keys, emergency money, and guess what? more water) and just started walking. I have no self control and just had to get away from the "possible" food. By the time I came home I not only had my exercise in (don't forget to use the exercise counter it is wonderful, even counts cleaning and cooking *lol*) but I wasn't hungry. Honestly I was way too exhausted to be hungry and that helped. Keep track of everything you put in your mouth. I find know that it is being counted makes me rethink do I really want to eat that? And the sooner I record it the better so I can say no to something else easier knowing, oh look what that would do to my counts. I've been here a week, been dieting my whole life (seriously mother started me dieting at the age of 5 or 6). I've been overweight since I was can't remember. Add me if you want, I'm not going to slap your hands but I will encourage you if you fall, and will be right there to cheer you on...WELCOME!!!0
