Any suggestions on a strength training program for someone who has been doing only cardio?

  • I don't have the best suggestions, but I will tell you that shape.com and muscleandfitnesshers.com has some great plans. I hope you find what you're looking for.

I highly recommend the bodyweight routine I was using. It's inexpensive (actually...free depending on your creativity), VERY effective, and when you finally graduate from it, you'll be seriously ready for weights. I just finally joined a gym today, and when I showed the owner the before picture...and told him that it was 3mos or so of work from then to now...he was shocked.

If you're interested, I can quote it here for you. The before and current pictures are below:

    Again...very effective. And it's only 30-45 minutes, 3 days a week.

These are awesome as well if you have access to a gym.

A lot of gyms often have a trial personal trainer for 1 or 2 sessions. Utilize what your membership pays for and let them not only show you how to use the equipment properly, but they can give you a basic routine that you can alter as you go.
