To those who are doing/have done Turbo Fire:happy: , can you uadvise me if it's suitable for someone who has a knee injury? I've seen a preview of the HIT class and WOW I dont think I can manage that one with all that jumping, but I see the kit comes with a bunch of dvds. Turbofire I something I would do in a heartbeat if I could.

Will any of the turbofire dvds suit me or should I just find another workout dvd to use?

Thanks!

Most of the BeachBody stuff is pretty high impact for the most part. I would wait until your knee heals up a bit before jumping in on it. No pun intended LOL.

There isn't as much jumping in the regular TF workouts (like Fire 45, etc..).. However I'd suggest Turbo Jam as an alternative, as she uses the same basic moves, and it's lower impact. You can probably find some of the TJ workouts online for a preview.. good luck!

Thanks for that...think I'll have to give it a miss as my injuries are long term:sad: and I have 2 plates with screws in my lower leg too.
  • I would advise not to do it, especially if you have a problem with your knees. The DVD opens with a Warning for those who have knee and joint problems + heart conditions. If you havent tried it before, start with turbo jam, in fact its great to start with before moving to an intense program like TF. TJ also has 1 minute drill sessions, but less intense.

A lot of people here rave about Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30, and Shred 30. I havent used any of them before. Why dont you check them out?

    Cheers.

I've just started it, and it is very intense with lots of jumping, I like it a lot but maybe you should try another DVD?

Personally, I think 30 Day Shred is even worse on the knees - as jillian Michaels gives little to no instruction on the various lunge exercises.

Which are the main causes of the knee pain experienced by people following the DVD.

I have a bad knee and I just do the modifications and I have been seeing awesome results. My first 90 days of Turbofire I lost 15 pounds. I just started my second round last week and I doing the extended 20 week version and so far so good. She has a person on stage with her that modifies EVERYTHING so I just follow her and I still get great results. Go for it. Turbofire has changed my life!!!

Actually not all of the Beachbody workouts are high impact. There is something for everyone. One less intense workout is Turbojam-less intense version of Turbofire. I would say that if you are new to kickboxing or even working out get Turbojam. Its all the same moves as Turbofire and not as intense.

I agree that a good place to start is Turbo Jam. See how those work for you, and if you feel good, bump it up! Turbo Fire DOES have a modification in every workout, and she's super easy to follow. Some days my right knee bothers me and I stick with her and I feel great. I don't feel like I'm "missing out" or not working hard enough. I started with Turbo Jam and two bad knees and I modified everything...and still lost 40 lbs. Now, after I've taken almost 70 lbs off of my body, I've lost the pain in one knee, and now I'm only left with a minor annoyance in the other, and Turbo Fire is my go-to workout!

And I agree with the post about Jillian Michaels not giving enough instruction for lunges in her DVD. It's one of many reasons that I stopped doing the 30 day shred. The lack of instruction and possiblity for injury kind of turned me off. I mean, I'm a CPT and I know what I'm doing, but it was just kind of like "wait, is this....right?" sometimes. But hey, if it works for you, keep with it by all means :)
