weight loss and feeling cold

I have lost a little over 18% of my body weight and find that I often feel cold. It was 74° outside yesterday and I had to have a hoodie on. I work in a restaurant and the kitchen was probably around 95° and people were complaining about the 'heat', but I was comfortable. Does this have to do with losing the fat????

That or your tyroid is out of whack. I am always cold, I have a personal heater under my desk and use it often.0 -
I would get your body fat percent checked...as well as your thyroid!! Good luck!!0

Well if you have less weight, then you have less insulation for your body to maintain heat. Generally, it depends on the amount of muscle you have. From the research I have seen, the reason men are generally warmer is because they have more muscle.0 -
Probably. When I was thin, I was always cold. Now I'm 100 lbs overweight and always hot. It wouldn't hurt to get your thyroid checked just in case, but remember that fat is an insulator. That's why arctic and marine mammals have so much of it. The more you have, the more easily your body retains its heat. On the plus side, that coolness you're feeling will actually cause you to burn more calories to maintain body heat!0

ABSOLUTELY!!!
I have lost 75+ pounds and I am absolutely freezing most of the time. (I used to be the one that was always sweating when everyone else was comfortable.)
Last year I was a Weight Watchers success story and was flown to NY for a photoshoot. There were 12 of us there and every single girl said they exact same thing. They are all cold all the time. One of the girls told me that her doctor said it is because our internal thermostats are still working as if we had a layer of fat on. I don't know how true that is, but I have no doubt that the weight loss has everything to do with being cold all the time.0 -
I think so. I'm always cold. The sun is shining, everyone in the office is blasting themselves with fans, and I'm temperate with cold feet. And usually, cold when everyone's 'just nice' or hot. I attribute it to weight loss. Dukan, the French dr whose diet I've been following says this is a normal reaction to fat loss, as the body needs to adjust to its newer, smaller self, and will try to conserve energy. I see it as a positive as when I was fat, I was sweaty, and now I'm not :happy:0
