smaller meals

Any thoughts about eating small meals throughout the day, small ones that offer fiber, than one full meal in the evening?? I was thinking that maybe eating lunch or dinner as a primary meal (depending on my schedule) than eatting smaller things throughout, like Bananas, Blueberries, Yogurt, fiber bars..

I try to eat every few hours - breakfast, a.m. snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and more times than none, a p.m. snack. Dinner ususally being my primary meal. I find that if I don't eat something every few hours ~ I tend to overdo it in the evenings. It's good you're getting your fruits in - but don't forget to get your veggies in too. I eat 6 or 7 small (about 250 calorie meals) a day...I love it! (once I got into the habit) I am never really hungry because I am basically eating all the time, so no crashes or hunger pangs that lead to unhealthy binges. Plus it seems my energy level stays up and my metabolism evened out.
One down side, sometimes it takes a little preparation. I have to precook alot of the fish, chicken and lean meat and divide it up into proper serving sizes to have ready to throw in my lunch sack.
But eating like this has helped me pay more attention to serving size and calorie/fat content...I lost 20lbs!0 -
If you're talking about only eating one full meal a day and just snacking the rest of the day then just be careful that you record EVERYTHING becuse you can easily go over board on snacking. I do three meals and 2-3 snacks per day. Also be sure you are getting fruits and veggies so that are sure to get the nutrients that you need and be careful of the sugar loaded fiber bars which will only leave you wanting more sugar.0
