Good Morning All,
I am new to the site, but not the weightloss game. Thanks to everyone that has welcomed me offered words of encouragement. I am waiting for my weigh in at the docs office, along with multiple other tests to rule out diabetes, thyroid isues, etc. My goal is to lose 60 lbs by November (my bday). I will also finish school the following month, Masters...finallly! Aside from that, my first child.is off.to college and the remaining will be out of the nest in 5 years! I was a teen mom, so i really feel I deserve this. I did a good job and now I want to reward my self. Pls dont judge, but with the weight loss will probably come a bit of cosmetic surgery to finish the deal. But I really want to see what I can do on my own first. First off...good tummy and cardio exercises?

great chhoice joining this site. if you finish your journy with cosmetic surgery that is your busness but i bet you will be thrilled with what some calorie counting cardio and strenght training will do for you. Congrats on your masters. that is a huge accomplishment and a hard thing to do. best wishes on your journey0

Okay- first of all, Congrats on the Masters! Good for you! Also, I was a teen mom too, and I know where you're coming from. You have to grow up so fast for your kid's sake, and you give up a lot.
If I could afford cosmetic surgery, I would do it too! My boobs aren't going to get back to where they were when I was 17 all by themselves
For cardio, I like the elliptical. I have arthritis in my hips and knees, so I try to do low impact cardio whenever I can. I also just started back doing the couch to 5K program. As I type, I have just gotten back from my second full day of week one. The first real day that I tried it, my knee locked up halfway through and I had to stop. So I don't really count that day. For abs, I use some of the machines at the gym. I hate to be on my back, so crunches aren't really my thing. Sometimes I do a "standing crunch" (that's what I call them). It's pretty much an abdominal twists where you alternate bringing up your knees. I don't know how to describe it. It's on the Kelli Girardi (?) kickboxing video I got at Target.0 -
Thanks a bunch, and you sound like you are on a roll! What is the couch 5k?0

The couch to 5K is a training program that is designed to get you from couch potato to running a 5K in 9 weeks. There are podcasts out there that you can download to help you work out, and they even have one for the treadmill. I think some people are more firmly rooted to the couch than others- the first week, you start with a 5 minute warm-up walk, then followed by a 60 second run, 90 minute cool-down, then another 60 second run, and so on for 8 intervals, then another 5 minute walk. The reason I say some people are more rooted to the couch than others: towards the end of the first podcast, right before the 7th interval, the guy says "You should be feeling the effects of your run, but shouldn't be tired or out of breath" HA!!! I may have to do week one more than one time, but I'm not going to beat myself up over it. You're supposed to do the program 3 days a week with at least a day off in between. You can google it for more info.
I have heard of a lot of people doing the program that are running 5Ks regularly now, so I guess it works. I think it will be an amazing accomplishment to run a 5K. I want to be able to say that I have done it.0
