Hello all !!! My hubby and I are headed to Vegas babeeeee!!!!
I've been doing well on my diet and do not want to blow it on all the buffets, drinks, drinks, drinks and good eats. We're not renting a car so I will have plenty of exercise. I just don't want to ruin my focus while there.
Do you all have any tips and tricks to stick with my goals????

Typically when I go to Vegas (going in a few weeks yeah!) I pretty much drink my calories...I steer clear of the buffets, I opt for one nice meal a day (usually dinner) and since I'm sleeping in until noon, I hardly eat much. )0

Yep what K said - not to mention it is hotter than hell in Vegas this time of year...you'll be sweatin the cals right out! Have fun. I LOVE Vegas!!!!0

good luck ...
maybe just really scale back for breakfast and lunch and eat a good dinner.
if you like to drink, well, again, good luck. lol.0 -
I live in Vegas. There are plenty of awesome restaurants you can get a regular meal from and avoid the plate after plate buffets. Also you could start the day with a morning workout...most properties in Vegas have on location gym's. It may not make up for everything but will surely lessen the effect. Most importantly though...have FUN and don't sweat it!! Just get back here afterwards and continue on.0

Thanks! I just wish my brain will catch up with my thoughts. I lose all control when on vacation sad but true.... I will take your advice and not sweat it, and win a millon dollarsssssssss !0 -
It is 7 miles from end to end, ( not including the casinos and malls) walk it and take the stairs rather than the moving sidewalks, and such. Have fun, and enjoy the sites.0

I also live in Vegas...with that guy ^ LOL My big recommendation would be to stick with non-alcoholic drinks from the cocktail waitresses. They'll bring you whatever you want...water, diet cola, juice, coffee. Save those alcohol calories for the evenings.0 -
Ok I'm going to tell you to go to a buffet, because sometimes it's just unavoidable. The Buffet at the Rio has a build your own stir-fry station. You can load your plate up with tons of veggies and lean meats (including seafood and tofu) and they cook it on a mongolian wok so there is very little oil. Plus the buffet has other stations for those who may not be dieting or if you want a salad to do with your stir-fry.
You can get a discount voucher for lunch at tix4tonight booths and a free shuttle to the Rio leaves from Balley's. Bon Voyage!0 -
Thanks ladies!!!! I will not speak defeat !0

I am going in two weeks. We usually do one nice meal a day it's going to be so hot out there. You may not want to eat much anyways. Good Luck.0

I would eat a good breakfast and a light lunch and dinner....use a pedometer to see how far you walk in a day! When I go to Vegas I usually am going going going and really dont slow down to eat much during the day....or the hubby and I split an order of something good just to hold us over until dinner!0

this is a good topic

Walk everywhere. Youre guaranteed to lose weight.
I did...0 -
When I'm going to be out of my routine for whatever reason, I try to at least eat a sensible breakfast. Will you have a refrigerator in your room? If not, maybe you can ask for one and stock up on yogurt and fruit or whatever.0
-
Oh and wear sensible shoes! Seriously, I've seen so many women wear stilettos and whatnot and many of these women end up taking them off and walking barefoot on the strip. The distances between the hotels are very long so all you do is walk everywhere!
Sensible shoes!0 -
I just got back from Vegas, stayed at Bellagio's next door to Caesar's. My thoughts:
- your hotel will have a gym. I made a point to use it daily and tried out some new machines. Awesome!
- the miracle mile mall and the many casinos are a good way to exercise while beating the heat
- we ate 1-2 meals per day due to aforementioned sleeping schedule, helped keep the calories down
- we did buffets (Paris and Bellagio's) but I stuck to meats and veggies, Paleo style (ate a lot of prime rib though!). The first plate had to be half veggie, then I tried to stop after the second (at Paris I didnt and regretted it) I did allow myself a daily dessert. If you don't set rules before you go in all is lost!
- you HAVE to go to Mon Ami Gabi's in the Paris hotel. It has a great ambience and you can get delicious egg white omelettes for breakfast, delectable chicken breast and salad, etc, lots of healthy choices (avoid the fries, they're like potato chips anyway)
- avoid the m&m shop. It looks cute but the second floor is DEATH to your diet. I had to throw my bag away
- I second the sensible shoes BUT keep in mind everybody is dressing SEXY as hell. I brought 2 sexy dresses for each day and was glad I did - those heifers are dressed to kill and you will feel plain as Jane if you don't come prepared and end up binging
- drink plenty of water. It's hot and dry and dehydration will rear its ugly head and fool you into thinking you're hungry
- most importantly, have fun and realize it's ok to maintain during vacation!!!0 -
Oh yeah and if i could do things over I would have brought some of those individual sized almond snacks from trader joes and some portable fruit like apples and oranges. Many mornings or afternoons just a little fruit or nuts would have quelled my appetite but I ended up ravenous cause I had nothing without the restaurants and the convenience store only sells junk.
Also, keep in mind you can usually refill your water bottle at the gym since there's often a water cooler (hehehe)0 -
only bring tight clothing...that way you will feel more self conscious of gorging0
