It would be nice if the kind gentlemen who are informing others of incorrect advice would share with us some of their knowledge on the OP's question. I'm genuinely curious, just like her.:flowerforyou:
Sorry, we don't meen to come off rude but this garbage about eating too late or when to eat or frequency of meals stuff gets repeated over and over hear every day and it does not make any difference. Not to mention the "starvation mode" myth.
You can eat all of your calories, every day, right before you lay down for bed and so long as you don't eat more than you burn it will not slow down metabolism. It will not lead to muscle loss unless the content of what you eat qualifies as poor nutrition and unless you are not lifting weights.
Basically, when you eat does not matter. It is the principle of the Lean Gains nutrition plan to eat all of your calories for the day late in the day/evening and there are bodybuilders who use it with great success. So if bodybuilders (natural ones) can use is an not lose muscle, the very day joe can do it too if they do it right.
Again, sorry if I come off cranky but there are a lot of uninformed people spreading bad advice or incorrect info. I don't pretend to be 100% correct all of the time but some of this stuff has been proven to be wrong for quite a while. The bottom line is I don't want someone struggling with their weight to take bad advice that could derail them.
If you like to have one huge meal everyday and that's easier to maintain for you, the by all means do it. Just do it the right way.0 -
Agreed with this!
This is also agreed upon by a nutritionist named Alan Aragon who has a PHD and clientel includes many of the professional sports teams in LA... Look up his blog if you want to know more about him. He puts out a monthly newsletter on analyzing all of the newest research data. He is also not sponsored by any company to prevent any baises.
^^ This. Alan = Amazing in the nutrition, and training department.0 -
By eating all your calories in one sitting, you body goes into "protect mode/starvation mode" It holds on to the calories as storage because it basically can't count on you to fuel it every 3-4 hours. Basically instead of using "old stored fat" as energy, it uses the quick calories that you feed it in one sitting..which in turn you will either experience muscle loss or possible weight gain.
It actually takes 72 hours with no food for your body to kick in to starvation mode according research... This is different than keeping up a major deficit for a long period of time but this is some bad information that is constantly spread... Lots of research shows that those who eat later are skinnier than those who eat in the morning as well...
When it comes to nutrition you should do the research for yourself, look for those who debate these things using studies to make their points.
