Anyone use natural deodorant?
Options
For years I've tried different natural deodorants with not much luck. I'm currently using a drugstore deodorant/antiperspirant but I'd like to get away from using that because of the supposed health risks. I've tried a few natural deodorants (most bought at Whole Foods) and haven't had much luck. I don't sweat a lot, but the reason I always stop using them is because after awhile my skin starts breaking out under my arms, kind of like a rash. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with natural deodorants? I just bought Aubrey E Plus High C and can't wait to give it a go because the reviews are really good.

I don't use store bought natural, I make my own with all natural ingrediants. It's very easy to make, and you can find recipes online. Some batches will make 10 deodorant sticks which lasts a long time, and saves you money!0

Can someone list the health risks associated with my ole trusty Gillette Cool Rain that I've been using since I was twelve?0

I love natural deodorants! It's soooo hard to find a good one but I finally found a great one:

Smells great, lasts all day and no irritation. Tom's stuff is crap, always irritates my husbands skin and doesn't mask odors at all but this stuff does not and there are also some other nice scents.0 -

I would also say to make your own. I have extremely sensitive skin and originally got into making my own bars of soap because I am allergic to even the products for "sensitive skin" from there I also started with deodorants, lotion and lip balm. You can find it online or there is an awesome book Judes Herbal Home Remedies that is amazing.0

I've tried tons of natural deodorants, especially because I had a really hard time getting rid of aluminum poisoning in the past, but it makes me so self conscious when I think I'm smelly that I use regular deodorant anyway. I can only use men's deodorants, too, because the women's kind reacts weird with my skin and makes me smell sour
I usually stick to unscented arm & hammer deodorant for most of the year until it gets reallly sticky hot and then I use my husband's axe deodorant until the summer is over. :grumble:
I think the silliest natural deodorant I ever tried was deodorant stones  seemed like a good idea at the time0 -
Seconding the Crystal Essence roll on. I use the Lavender and Green Tea scent. You have to put it on twice a day, once immediately after your shower and once when you wake up (or when you go to bed, if you shower in the morning). It actually works better than any conventional deodorant I've ever tried.0

Can you please share your recipe? Does it really work as an antiperspirant? That is what I'm really concerned about! :flowerforyou:0 -

is what I use! I love it. My husband uses the solid, I prefer the rollon
When I first decided to try it I noticed it took about 3 days to really start working, and old clothes (which had bacteria in them) prevented the crystal deodorant from working effectively. As soon as I changed my wardrobe, and used the crystal deodorant after every shower it worked! NO BO at all. No staining of my shirts either! Remember that your clothes absorb bacteria, so wear new clothes when experimenting with a new deodorant to have a good sense of it working or not.0
