Exercise with sprained toe

I sprained my big toe today. I wish I had some awesome sports-related story to go with it but I'm just a clutz and landed on it wrong while trying to dodge a lego my 4 year old threw in my path. :ohwell:

My problem is that I usually do exercises that require my feet (usually running, jumping jacks, and burpees) but I'm on doc's orders to lay off of my foot for at least a week (as much as possible anyway) and not to do any working out using it. I'm happy to use this as motivation to focus on working out my upper body, and I've felt as if I've neglected the weight-lifting area of fitness for too long, but I'm not sure what exercises are good for beginners. I don't want to cause more injury and I want to avoid improper techniques that will waste my effort.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas? Any suggestions for exercises? I'm looking online as well but I like having feedback with humans more than Google. I have some equipment- two 5 lb hand weights and a resistance band that came in a pilates beginner kit.

Thanks in advance for helping me stay on track! I've already lost almost 5 lbs and I refuse to let such a trivial injury set me back so soon.:noway:
