Glucose Levels

In January of this year, I took control of my weight and fitness by using MyFitnessPal. I really had no idea how at risk I was with my glucose levels until today however. Last week, I saw my doctor for my physical and had a bunch of test run including a test for glucose. Today I got my results and took record of them, as I have in the past... but, today, I thought to ask what the "normal range" is. I wish I had done that long ago.

As you can see from the chart below, I've turned from the road to diabetes to the road to health and just in time! I was way too close to the high end of the glucose range and ones body can only maintain that for so long until the pancreas says, "Well, !@#$ that, I give up. Go find your own insulin you jack wagon!"

An alternative title to this post could've been, MFP Saves My Life Again!

That is so awesome. Both of my parents are diabetic and that's my biggest fear since I have PCOS. Thanks for sharing.

I must admit, I don't watch my sugar or carbs closely as part of my diet and fitness routine. I have increased my exercise and I don't eat processed (junk) foods often -- if ever. I think that helps, but I also think loosing 60 lbs had a ton to do with it too.

I have been more focused on eating heart healthy than anything else. So, if there's a lesson here it is the following somehow helped my glucose too or at least it is a great coincidence.

    High fiber
    High potassium
    High calcium
    Low cholesterol
    Low fat
    Low sodium

See the American Heart Association's "Dash Diet" for details on the above nutrients.
