I have been trying to drink 8 glasses of water a day...it's really hard for me. I just read that we should drink enough water until the urine is light in color. Is that enough?

That seems like a more reasonable approach than drinking an arbitrary eight glasses.

Yep. Proper hydration is indicated by light color urine.

The average person needs about two liters, or approximately eight glasses, of water a day to replace what is lost through normal biological functions like breathing, sweating, and urinating.
But that doesn’t mean that you need to drink two liters of water. In fact, hypothetically, you don’t have to drink any water at all. For one thing, you can easily get a liter or liter and a half of water just from the food that you eat, especially if you eat lots of fruits and vegetables, which are up to 97% water.

As has been said - go by the color of your pee

Pee color is a good indicator and your fluid intake isn't just drinking water, all fluids count and if you eat fruits and veg they're largely made up of water as well. An apple is 85% water.

Be careful though, some supplements can discolor your urine.
