Sometimes the calorie count seems to really vary between the gym machine read outs & the MFP estimates. What's a reliable way to measure? Also, the yoga estimates seem really low to me.

I use the calorie counter from the machine because the ones on MFP seem really inflated.0

Yoga, unless you're doing Bikram, does tend to be very low. In a session I usually burn 150-250.
I'd go with the lower of MFP and the gym if you don't have a HRM. In my experience MFP is often nearly twice as much as my HRM.0 -
th best way is t oget a HRM with a chest strap.....I use mine at the gym and I find that the machines count is off...Ex: 120 cal the machine says my HRM says 228calories burned......0
