Q's: Warrior Dash or Tough Mudder?

Well I've heard a few friends talk about Warrior Dash before....however, no girls :grumble: And recently just found out about this Tough Mudder Competition. Now that just upped the ante! So, I'm not afraid, I have been through basic training and feel if I could do that then I can surely get in the mind set to kick some *kitten* in a friendly competition! I'd love to give myself a goal to work towards and have something that will truly test my fitness level :glasses:
The question lies (a two-part question)......Who here has done what and what do you recommend?
Any comments are appreciated! :drinker:

I've done the Warrior Dash, a Sheriff's Mud Run and will be doing a charity mud run next month.
I've seen Tougher Mudder and it's exactly that. It's 12 miles compared to a 5K and it has a lot more obstacles which include doing things like moving heavy objects along with obstacle jumps and crawls. I'm hoping to be ready for it next year.
Good luck to you and post pics!!!0 -
I've not done either, or boot camp, but I am looking at doing the Muddy Buddy this year in California. It's a 5 mile race with a partner and you rotate biking and running and the biker has to do an obstacle course at each leg. The best part, at the end you have to climb through a mud pit with your partner to complete the race!!!!0

I guess I didn't make a recommendation. LOL! If you want a quick, challenging, but attainable race I would go with Warrior Dash.
If, on the other hand, you are a good long distance runner and have the stamina to go for two or three hours without stopping then Tougher Mudder is for you.
It's really up to you. I've had a blast at every single mud run I've done.0 -
I just did a 6 mile mud run and if I can do that I say go strong! lol. My dh is doing the Tough Mudder in December. I think it depends on how much you can do now. He's army. You could always do the warrior dash first and then do tough mudder next time.0

Thanks guys! Seems like my initial thoughts were spot on. Gonna start with Warrior Dash, then progress to Tough Mudder. I think I could sustain the obstacles, but am not a good long distance runner.... Running has never been my "thing"....even growing up I would ride my bike alongside my dad while he would run long distance. He's had multiple knee surgeries, so that's another reason I haven't gotten into it. Anyway, I'd prefer to build my endurance with a myriad of activities to spice it up a bit!
Anybody else out there who's done either??0 -
I've done Warrior Dash before and it is SO fun! There are all sorts of people out there and all fitness levels. It is nothing to be intimidated by! You just need to sign up and go and have fun! There are so many different waves, and I promise you, no one is keeping track of how fast or slow you are going. Just Do It. You won't regret it!0
