Kick Start - Daily Exercise Motivation

Hi All
As you can see from my Ticker I lost a wonderful 26 lbs using MFP.
I did this all in the first part of the year and have either been stuck at the lowest weight or yo-yo'd up 8 pounds.
I've not been a well bunny but now have some time off from work and intend to get back on the wagon.
Anyway....
Some days I have ALL day to spare but can't motivate myself to get to the gym or to go for a walk but seem to be able to find food!

So I was wondering if anyone wanted to use this thread as a motivator to just do something. Anything that will burn some cals.

Post every night what you have done OR post the reason you didn't do it.
Hopefully we'll be motivated enough to do ANYTHING to avoid posting 'I did nothing today as I'm lazy' :O)

Genuine reasons for not exercising accepted of course and hopefully we can support each other when we really need a kick up the rear.

I know this is thread 8 million doing the same thing but I'm up for this now.

I hope you join me.

Best of luck in your weight loss anyway.

Amanda

I always think to myself, "If you want that cheese burger or a big steak, another sandwich, etc... you have to work for it."

If you work out you can eat anything that you want. (In moderation.)

I am going to the gym to run when I get out, because I want the energy and focus to deal with my school's financial aid office. [:

    My DAILY motivator:
    "Exercise releases endorphins.
    Endorphins make you happy.
Happy people just don't kill people."

    I almost agree :o)
I've had chocolate lately and had the calories but the sugar and fat has made my diary go RED! LOL

I'm going into work for a few hours but can leave when I want and will then go to the gym.
Will touch base here later to tell you all I went.
    I can't stand to say I didn't go now :O)

    Have a great day everyone!!!

  • I would love to join this thread...I had big plans to exercise a lot during the holidays but have done nothign so far! First excuse, I am waiting for my new trainers to arrive, second excuse it's my birthday tomorrow so I can't possibly diet/exercise. I find the excuses so easy to find but the motivation is sadly lacking....perhaps this is the kick I need.

I completely agree with you- I can have good intentions and some how by the end of the day i've made an excuse for every intention.

I didn't do anything as extreme as the gym ;)
I believe its important to do more than I have previously and something I am most likely to stick at in the future.
So with that said as a first step I played rounders and piggy in the middle with a friends daughter- got to say I'm shocked at how tiring it was. I also went on a very long walk.

    well done Lexieonni!

Today I hit the gym and although every minute seemed like 2, I busted 500 calories.

Well done on 500 cal. That's a good bit of exercise. I was sadly lazy on fri too, but I did keep to my dog walk yesterday for a whole hour! I even walked through my strange achy leg pain! I've missed todays
chance of dog walking but have full intentions of a long walk after lunch.

hey, I'm a newbie, but love this thread. Going to start walking again starting Monday. Its the first day of school. Yippee! This will help be be accountable. ( hopefully)
  • I would love to join this thread. This is exactly what I need. A place to share growing pains and successes. I am currently out of the US on a job but I really want to get back on the gym/diet bandwagon when I get back in town. My goal weight is 135 lbs. Current weight is 165 lbs. So I've got a ways to go and could use the support. I have been gaining weight lately and I hate it. I want to make the scale go the other direction.

"You'll never regret a workout, but you will probably regret not working out"

Keep it interesting so you'll have something to look forward to:
    - Create a reward system so x number of days at the gym (or minutes) earns you something (not food!). My HRM does this for me, I get stars or a trophy on the watch face for meeting my heart rate zone and/or time goals.
    - Buy new workout clothes, you'll feel better and want to wear them.
    - Download new music and only listen to it at the gym.
    - When you leave your house in the morning, go straight to the gym and put your housekeys in the locker. You'll have to return to the gym to get them, and while you're there you can workout :-) (a client actually did this).
    - Sign up for an event so you'll have something to train for. A 5k, walk-a-thon, sprint triathalon, etc.
    - Buy a Groupon/daily deal and try a new sport.

My daily motivator is wine. I've been eating pretty clean and healthy for more than a decade, and I can be satisfied and get my macros and vitamins on 1300 (or so) calories a day. But if I want wine with that and not to gain weight, I have to work out. So, I work to earn my wine.
