Hi there :) First time on MFP -- I used to be a SparkPeople kinda girl but lately I've gotten rather fed up with how sluggish their site is and how difficult their mobile app is to use. So here I am!

The name is Vivian (you can call me V) and I'm a 21-year-old college student. I also used to dance a lot, but I (regrettably) stopped for two years (freshman/sophomore year of college). In those two years, I managed to gain 20 pounds and became really stiff and inflexible. 20 pounds may not sound like a lot, but it definitely went to all the wrong places (stomach, thighs, upper arms). So now I have flab in the most unflattering places (I can't wear tank tops anymore without feeling disgusting). Not to mention that in college I picked up on some very unhealthy eating habits (3 chocolate chip cookies for dinner, anyone?)

Especially given the fact that I want to take up dancing at a semi-pro level again, I really need to work on toning up and eating better. So that's where I hope MFP can help out. Nice to meet you all!

Is sounds like you know what you want. NOW GO GET IT! The flexibility/fitness will come when you start dancing again. Do you take any dance classes in college?

I started up again this past year, but it takes a lot of self-motivation to rehearse. I find that I'm so lazy that sometimes I'll skip out because I'm too tired to walk the half mile to the dance studio :( I've been better about it over the summer, though, and now that I've made my decision to go semi-pro in dance, I'm going to try my hardest! I've always been envious of the lean, fit ballerinas I've known.. felt so short and stubby next to them with my t-shirt and jiggling thighs (covered by loose leggings, because god forbid I wear a leotard and let anyone see all my fat). I want to gain the confident to wear something like a leotard and not feel ashamed of how I look.
