Things that motivate me when I'm getting too tired to keep g

1) I put my hands on my thighs to feel the beginnings of muscles moving.. omg! THERE'S MUSCLE IN THERE! who knew. not I.

2) I yell at myself outloud - but only if I'm home alone. I think the fitness instructors at my gym would feel very put out if I started yelling "C'mon! What's another 2 minutes! You got this! Push through it! ONE MINUTE! How much of a p***y are you? Keep going!" I suspect I'd be banned... or I'd get their paycheck. Either way, I don't think they'd appreciate the unsolicited assistance.

3) Remember that I'm able to do more now than I did a month ago... and wouldnt' it be nice to be able to say that in a month? Or do I still want to be stuck where I am in 30 days? Is there a dunce cap for fitness? If so, I may need to invest in one.

4) Looking at pictures of women about my age who are in good physical condition - no not walking-death models nor hard bodies that could launch me into space with a flick of her pinky finger - but that healthy medium of fit, active and trim. One of my favorites is Sara Jessica Parker. We have a very similar figure (she's got a bigger rack, better hair, and hella' more money - but otherwise.....).

5) all the major events coming up in my life that I'd love to be able to fit into a dress that will actually look good on me - my graduation, being the MOH in a best friend's wedding (2013 - if I can't do it by then, I may find a contract killer to put me out of the world's misery because I'll be a stark raving b***h.. btw.. WHAT is a stark raving anything? Is that some cross breed of nightmarish bird-fiend?), and being SO HOT in that MOH dress that my bf decides to pop the question too... hmm.... maybe? Yeah. Probably not. But at least I can make him jealous when a groomsman asks me to dance. ;-)

6) If I'm in a class, looking at the woman who is in her 50's and pushing through and even though her whole body may not be as slim as it could be, DAYMMM.... she's lifting twice what I am AND keeping pace with the class. WTF? That's not right! I'm not even 40 yet! So much admiration... and I'm gonna' show that b***h who's who... just you wait... ;)

Most of all, when I REALLY don't even feel like starting...

I take a good long look in the mirror and assess if I am the best person I could be, if I am happy with myself right in that moment, and keep my eye as objective as possible (not easy) - and then I decide (unless I'm sick and then I'm just gonna' go anyway and vomit on everyone and laugh when they all go sliding across the dance floor in a chunky goo of spew!.... uh..... right. Yuck?)

When YOU least feel like pushing, when YOU really just don't want to move another step, when YOU just don't have teh energy to drive to the gym, pop in that dvd/wii/ps3/etc... what do YOU do to keep going anyway? And if you don't - what COULD you do; or better yet, what are you GOING TO do from now on?

Great list! I'm going to have to try make one of my own. I do have one strategy for drained motivation and that is to come on MFP, announce my lack of drive and let my friends then take me to task. Gets me out the door.
