I know most people don't count the the natural sugars in fresh fruit, but I was wondering how everyone felt about the sugar in milk. Do you count or ignore it?

Just curious!

That's what always seems to put me over my daily sugar intake.:grumble:

I ignore it...it's a disaccharide so it's not entirely a simple sugar and it doesn't cause much in the way of BG increases. I only concern myself with table sugar (sucrose)...it's also a disaccharide but the combo od fructose and sucrose causes a large increase in BG.

I loved my nutrition class! I have a more specific performance-based class coming up next semester that looks fun. The only downside is the conflicting information...no one *really* knows what works, but everyone likes to say they do.

haha...yea I'm finding that out. I'm thinking it's only because different things work for different people, so it's not an exact science.

Pretty much nothing related to the human body is. From what I've seen, it's about 95% guesswork. Drugs...some work, and we don't know why, or what their effects may be (anti-depressants). Or we wanted them to do one thing, and they did something else, so we sold them for that (Viagra). Hunger, crying, yawning, sleeping, dreaming...the most basic, natural, everyday things we do as human beings aren't even understood. So trying to figure out something as complex as nutrition...well that could be studied for the next 100 years before being entirely understood.
