Is it possible.... I need help badly :(

So this has nothing to do with weight loss but everyone is so helpful here I figured I would give it a try. My fiance has had some eye problems for the past 5 months.... we tried to fix it our selves via OTC meds... didnt work, so we saw a doc who gave us a prescription for 2 things and neither has worked His eyes are still puffing up and burning and painful I don't know what to do for him anymore. I hate seeing him in pain and there's nothing I can do about it I want to make him better and I cant. What do I do!? Not to mention, we got a $300 bill from the doc that didn't fix anything

He might be alergic to something and not know it. You probably need to see a different doctor.

What kind of Doc did you see? Maybe an opthamologist would be of help?

yeah allergic to something...new shampoo? pet? laundry detergent? body wash? cleaning supplies? job? (my husband was allergic to the new carpets at school one time) Think about anything new in the past 5 months or so that could be causing it

My husband had a similar problem a couple of years ago. The specialist doctor kept throwing all these expensive meds at him, finally he went for a contact fitting, and the guy whose just supposed to do the contact fitting took ONE look at him, said you have XYZ and gave him an Rx. Cleared right up. Maybe try a different type of doc - he doesn't remember all the names so sorry but he says it was the same type of virus/bacteria that causes dandriff.

definitely sounds like an allergy to me as well..have him try taking benedryl..if that helps..its most likely an allergy

Call the doctor and tell him it didn't work, ask for additional directions or guidance, and a payment plan. Additionally, if the doctor doesn't offer much help, ask the doctor for a referral to a specialist. Spend the money to help your fiance before this problem gets worse and a lot more expensive... Maybe he is allergic to something...either way he needs a professional.

I had a co-worker with a problem that sounds simalar to that about 6 months ago. There eyes were burning and inflamed and there vison was impaired. In then end they determined that it was a result of lupus, they are getting apropriate treatment and feeling much better.
Regardless of what the cause is he should really see an eye doctor. There are a lot of problems that can have symptoms simalar what you are discribing, from allergys to glacoma, and the last thing you want is to cause perminate damage.

I took him to an Opthamologist. The only thing I can think that has changed in the last 6 months is that we moved to a new unit at our apartment complex. I've said the whole time that I think there is something in here that he is allergic to, but I dont know what it could be. Im talkin to a friend that works at an eye doc office so hopefuly we can get this fixed its so painful for him and its not pretty at all either

start doing some eliminating......get your fiancee to keep a diary write down any noticeable changes in his eyes. When and if you seek further investigation it will be helpful to give them the big picture and might help in pinpointing the location its at its worse. Can he stay with family and friends for a few days see if this alleviates symptoms or if they are the same. Its sounding like an allergic reaction. I would be seeking a referral to an allergy clinic so they can do skin tests to pinpoint the allergen. I hope this helps.

you don't mention whether he wears contacts at all, I had the same symptoms and found out I was allergic to Thermosal (sp?) a type of preservative found in the cleaning solutions.
Don't muck around with your eyes, I certainly think its very very dangerous to try to either treat it yourself or act on advice from any of us!!!!
He may have a minor irritation and then putting eye drops in to sooth it, but the eye drops might be making it worse.
Keep seeing a doctor until its fixed.

My advice would be to go to your GP, but I realise after reading this that you are in the States. I am unfamiliar with your system. It does however strike me that from reading the fact that you have to PAY that I am bloody glad I don't live there. It must be like the third world having to worry about the cost when you are ill.

I would suggest that it sounds like an allergic reaction, a GP here would send you to the allergy clinic and they would run tests on you to discover what your allergen is and advise you accordingly, I wonder if you can get some anti histamine medication from a pharmacist, here a pharmacist can give health advice and will take you into a private room for a consultation if you wish, obviously we don't pay for any of this, and as your system is so strange I am not sure if you have qualified pharmacists as opposed to dispensing pharmacists.

I wish I could help you more, move here, I would run you to the drop in medical centre along the road, and they would sort him out for free :frown:

i would make the same suggestion as everyone else, but for on the spot relief, have him put cooled chamomile tea bags over his eyes when they get puffy. it will help reduce the swelling and will likely soothe it really well also.
