Winter exercise when working full time?

Hi All,
I'd just like peoples opinions, I work from 8 - 5 everyday and in these winter months I am struggling to find the daylight to exercise.
I can't afford the gym as I just bought a house and I'm trying to keep costs down.
My partner however has an xbox with a fitness game on it (fitness - evolved). Do you think that would be suitable until the sun returns?
Please let me know if anyone has any other tips for exercising in the cold!

It's tough isn't it..... I can't wait till the sun comes back and I can go out early in the sunshine to exercise.
I try to get outside to walk/run/ride any morning that it's not raining. If it's cold, it just keeps me moving!
If it's too dark/wet outside then there are still some great indoor exercise options:
- use your xbox, that will be fun and get you moving
- if you have an iPhone have a look for some fitness apps - I have some freebies that have 10 - 20 min cardio/strength workouts. Let me know if you'd like the names of the apps.
- have a look at exercisetv online.
- there are lots of exercise routines on YouTube
- put on some fun music and dance around the house
It's easy to use the weather as an excuse to exercise (that's me), but there are lots of options!0 -
do Zumba class! Obviously the price varies, but I pay $10 a session and totally worth it! It's an AWESOME workout!0

Whenever the weather is too horrible outside I bring out my yoga mat and do yoga for toning. For cardio I use 30 minute or more workout videos on youtube (kick boxing, fat burning yoga, etc... ) and it really helps me get my sweat on indoors!0

I have the same fitness "game" and it has some really nice workouts in there once you unlock them. Go through the routines starting by the easy levels and as you advance you'll see that it will get your heart rate up.
Hard to say if it is enough for you but you won't know unless you try it.
I also bought the EA Sports Active game and that one comes with a HRM built in and I've found it a little more intense in some ways then My Shape Fitness Evolved.
If you can a elliptical machine or a exercise bicycle are also good indoors options.
You also have DVD based programs that are pretty good, like P90X or Insanity for instance, look around in the forums and you'll find loads of info on these too.0 -
I exercise in my house a lot. I use the Wii to do Zumba and Just Dance. I also do some Zumba from youtube. Here are some playlists:

You can buy exercise videos (like Jillian Michaels) for pretty cheap on Amazon Instant Video. Also, the Ipod/Iphone has an awesome free personal trainer app called Nike Training Club which has a lot of workout options and is made especially for women.0 -
Thanks for the ideas and motivations everyone!
I will give the xbox a go, and I'll download some fitness dvds0 -
I'm 7 days into Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred- she will kick your butt. I've seen some awesome results posted through the Success forum.0
