i feel like i am fighting a losing battle. my doctor changed my bp meds ( at my request---lower dose) due to the change in my activity level and my bp becoming lower. however, when he changed that it also lowered the fluid pill in the med. now, after one week, i have gained over 7 lbs and still have another week before i can go back to the doctor to discuss the matter--i do not want to have to take more pills just to keep fluid off. i am drinking at least 64-96 ozs of water daily with apple cider vinegar and lemon juice (can you say tart----pucker up baby---lol). i am also watching my sodium intake like a hawk. it does not seem to be helping. i am getting aggravated and depressed. i have worked hard this past year just to lose the 29 lbs and 16 inches so far. now i am back up to almost 210 lbs and my legs and hands are swollen. i am walking every day but cant work out as heavy as i usually do because my air conditioner went out and i can replace it until saturday----you would think being in 105 degree weather and a house that is hotter than that would melt the excess off but alas----no. does anyone have any suggestions for me---i would really appreciate any help you can give me. i cant get back up to what i was---i just cant go thru this anymore but truly dont want to give up.

I was taking a BP med prescribed by my ENT for and ear condition. Weird, I know, but the diuretic kept fluid from accumulating in my ear. (Yes, I saw a huge difference on the scale too, but it all ended up being bad because I'm training for a marathon) Anyway, the med was dropping my BP so low, (obviously because I didn't have high BP to begin with) that I started having some serious trouble. Anyway, my acupuncturist recommended dandelion tea as a natural solution to the fluid problem. It really worked without severely dehydrating my body. Of course, please talk to your doc and do your own research, (start now, google!) but this was a good solution for me. One warning: It's nasty tasting.

I hope it's clear that I'm not suggesting you use dandelion tea instead of your BP meds. I'm suggesting using the tea for the water retention.

OK, I know nothing about your issue, but I do know that if I had a doctor who wouldn't talk to me for a week when I had a serious problem, he wouldn't be my doctor any more. Get that doctor on the phone! If s/he messed with your meds and it's causing you problems, then s/he has a right to know and a responsibility to fix it as quickly as possible.
