Foodgawker!! It all looks so good. Unfortunately it is mostly deserts and pastas, but every now and then I find some clean recipies that sound delicious. Any other foodgawker junkies?

YES!! I have like 8,000 recipes bookmarked...one day I'll get around to actually making some of them...but, yes...many look like total calorie bombs. Maybe we load the recipes onto MFP to see the calorie count...then decide how much activity it would take to burn off a serving.. puts it in perspective!!

Oh well....LOOKING at fattening food is a much better addiction to have than EATING fattening food. So good for you!! Look away!!

I follow a ton of food blogs, and I do make quite a few of the recipes - there are easy ways to make them lighter and healthier. I cook a whole lot, which has helped me learn how you can (or shouldn't) alter a recipe.

I find that in most recipes, I can halve the sugar and not sacrifice any taste. Sometimes I'll only decrease it by a third, but very, very rarely do I ever put in the entire amount of sugar called for.

If I'm baking, as soon as that item is cool enough to cut I am portioning it out and putting it into separate containers.

The Pioneer Woman is awesome! And I love Smitten Kitchen (her banana bread is so, so good) and Orangette. The woman who does Alinea at Home is one of my food heroes.

One reason I switched to MFP from FitDay is because the latter never implemented a recipe calculator - I was having to figure out all of my recipes myself (which required way more time/effort than I wanted to devote to calorie counting). One of the best things about MFP is that you can enter in recipes you want to try and see how bad a serving would be - or alter your serving sizes to get them to the calorie level you're comfortable with - and then divvy up the portions after cooking :)

Do you mind fixing my meals for me? I will buy the food and the baggies.

I am willing to trade cooking services for cleaning services, yes! :)
