Today I did a fair amount of exercise, an hours walk, a gym session, swimming and the 30DS (So cardio and strength). It's my weigh in tomorrow, will this effect it cause of muscles or water....? I don't really know how it works or even if it will have an effect but am interested to know.

Clear that thought from your head. Don't ever change a routine or a workout knowing that you have a weigh-in the next day! If you start getting that granular on your use of MFP you will drive yourself batty!
As long as you stay hydrated during all of your various activities and log every workout (and reach your calorie goals with the workouts factored in, not fall under them) you will be just fine!
I'm glad you asked this question, because I'm sure you're not the only person on here thinking like that.0 -
I would still weigh in and then weigh in again just to see if there is any change0

Haha - I was just sitting here wondering the exact same thing! I am doing a Body Combat class before I weigh in tomorrow, and I suddenly thought - urgh! What if it affects it! But Onesnap is so right, now I have my sensible hat on, I'm not gonna put off a nice work out because I'm scared I'll put on half a lb of water - it just wouldn't be realistic0

It probably all depends on your body. I usually weigh less the morning after I do my biggest workout of the week (2 hours of step and weight lifting), but not always - and then it seems to be due to water retention because I usually see a loss in a couple of days.
So I would say don't let the scale bug you if you stay the same or even gain the day after a lot of exercise because you know that it will go down eventually - but if the scale does go down - go ahead and rejoice! Good luck!0 -
Here's some helpful quotes I found online for you:
"Don't worry, it's not fat! It's normal for your muscles to retain extra fluid after a hard workout. It will go away in a few days."
and:
"Not to worry, UNLESS you are not giving your body enough recovery time between these intense work outs. If you have the psychological need to be in the gym 7 days a week, alternate your intense workout days with more moderate ones."

no, actually what you eat will determine that0

Weigh in same day and time every week and you will see lose. Never change you workout because of weigh in...the working out is what will build muscles and burn fat...hip hip...HOORAY!0
