Best Diet Plan Ever!

No, this is not infomercial spam--OK, it's not all that serious either.
I just returned from a two-week trip to Italy with Mrs Azdak. There was no real opportunity to work out. I did manage two 20-min runs for consecutive days in Florence, running along the Arno at sunrise, but then I aggravated my Achilles problem (which I knew was going to happen, but the runs were too awesome to pass up) and limped along the rest of the trip. So it was two weeks of big hotel breakfast buffets and eating out at Italian restaurants. That and gelato. Lots of gelato. And lots of wine. As I said, no real exercise other than those two runs and just regular tourist walking.
I weighed myself before I left and when I returned----I lost 2lbs. At first I thought that might be because of some loss of non-fat mass since I didn't lift for two weeks and didn't really exercise, but Mrs Azdak lost a pound as well.
Go figure--but I'm not complaining. Frankly I was willing to go up 5-10lbs because I really wanted to sample as much food and wine as possible. And I did. It would appear that I was able to have my lasagna and eat it too.
So the heck with this protein and exercise stuff-- my new plan is to go to Italy, eat at restaurants, drink wine and eat gelato.

Actually, there is a nice path for bikes and runners along the river heading (I guess it would be) southeast. I passed at least a dozen runners on my little excursions. Not all were toursts--at least 1/3 were Italians.0 -
Me too. Spend 3 weeks in France, doing pretty much the same as you and gained 1 lb. I think it is the more walking and smaller portions in restaurants in Europe.0

Lol - yes, I appreciate that. I was just messing about. I've been to a few places in Italy and there are a fair amount of runners. Well, apart from Milan that is. Everybody spends too much time looking cool to sweat there0 -

A similar thing happened to my family. We all went on a 2week cruise to the Mediterranean, lots of stops, lots of food, lots of touristy exploring.
We knew we were not going to be back there soon, if ever, so we went on as many sight seeing trips as possible. We would leave at 8am and arrive back at the ship around 5pm. Lots of walking. Still lots of food.
Incredibly, everyone who went LOST 10+ lbs. With all that walking I wasn't surprised.
Unfortunately I gained 7lbs. Just not fair.0 -

I usually lose weight when I'm on holidays, I think it's because I'm busier so I don't snack so much, and I'm much more active than during a usual day at my desk job. This seems to balance out the eating and drinking.0 -
You'd be surprised how much regular tourist walking adds up in comparison with sitting in an office all day.0

lol awesome!!! wish that was the same for me when i went to london and france for 3 weeks i gained 22 pounds !!!! u read it right 22 pounds !! lol0
