Please take the time to read this and sign the petition... We cannot sit back and allow the FDA and Big Pharma to do this!

wow.....I am not surprised in the least....I sure hope it doesn't happen because I use all natural products for everything...I don't use prescription medications (except for my Synthroid for my thyroid) and I refuse to use any because I feel natural is best for me.

It's a hoax as far as I can tell. Herbs and dietary supplements are still outside of the purview of the FDA. It's how stevia made it onto the market and how many vitamins are sold with no set amounts.

Pharmacuetical (I know I didn't spell that right) companies have always been against natural remedies because they want everyone to get prescription medicine for every little thing. They have a lot to gain from this.

THIS IS A HOAX that circulates every so often. Here is more info from a fact-checking site: http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/vitamins.asp

I hadn't seen this particular version, but it's always a variation on the theme of "Aaaahhhh! The Big Bad Government wants to take away my garlic pills and fish oil! Although I have cited no proof, and no links to any reputable news sources or references whatsoever, I want you to get outraged, go online, and sign a petition against it."

Never trust "news" that does not cite original sources.

    Here it is: http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation/GuidanceDocuments/DietarySupplements/ucm257563.htm#top

If you check this out, you'll see very clearly at the top: "Contains Nonbinding Recommendations. Draft-Not for Implementation."
One relevant passage: "FDA's guidance documents, including this guidance, do not establish legally enforceable responsibilities. Instead, guidances describe the Agency's current thinking on a topic and should be viewed only as recommendations, unless specific regulatory or statutory requirements are cited. The use of the word 'should' in Agency guidances means that something is suggested or recommended, but not required."

They are trying to protect us from snake-oil salesmen who may try to market something harmful as a health supplement. If you have concerns with any part of the guidelines, there is a link right there on the page, you can address your concerns directly to the FDA officials. "Submit electronic comments to http://www.regulations.gov. Submit written comments to the Division of Dockets Management (HFA-305), Food and Drug Administration, 5630 Fishers Lane, rm. 1061, Rockville, MD 20852.... For questions regarding this draft document contact the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) at 240-402-2375."

Um no that's not true. Pharma has OTC businesses too. If they wanted to sell vitamins, they would.

Don't sign the petition unless you want more junkmail. I promise you any petition you sign online is bogus and less than worthless.
