I'm looking for a way to increase my potassium intake, I don't like the taste or texture of banana's so that's out of the question, any suggestions?

How about coconut water? Not the stuff you find in cans but the ones that are all natural, no preservatives, nothing added. My favorite is Vita Coco and there's another one called "One". The are the closest to actually tasting just like they came straight out of the coconut. Potassium count is very high and calorie count is very low (45 for 8.5 ounces). Killing 2 birds with one stone - increased Potassium and water intake. You can't find those everywhere, but I have seen it at Fred Meyer, Whole foods, occasionally at Publix and Costco in some states. In the grocery stores you can usually find it int he health food sections.0

This stuff also has a lot of other great things about it, including electrolytes!0 -
Plain, unsalted almonds and cashews have TONS of potassium (a cup of almonds has like 1000mg of pottassium)0

I have low potassium so I've done some research. One thing that I've been doing is taking supplements. But here is a list that I found recently on the internet:

The list isn't lined up all that well. I copied it from my word document, but you get the idea.0 -

Just a quick FYI... make sure you monitor your potassium levels, that is what they use to kill people with, to much of it will stop your heart. Now that being said, you need to eat a buttload, but I actually know someone that had raised it to high and had issues.
So eat a "normal" amount0 -
I suppose a potassium supplement (it doesnt taste good) is an option!?0

My Walmart carries a supplement you can find in the pharmacy section. Maybe that will help.0

I love salted cashews- not a big fan of the unsalted, although I have cut back on the salted ones, and started eating the lightly salted ones, I usually eat them in the morning when I'm running late for school-which is almost always)0 -

I've tried those, I still get really bad charlie-horses with them0 -
There's potassium in just about anything, if you're using this site alone to track your potassium, odds are it isn't accurate. Since potassium levels aren't required on nutrition labels, many foods that have good amounts of potassium show as zero in the MFP database.0
