Ok 2 weeks now in my new house - and I have to say the area is lovely but hilly. I have walked the dog twice a day, each day for the last 2 weeks. Can anyone please explain to me why the walks are not getting any easier? The muscles are constantly aching and I still feel that I cannot breathe when I get to the top of the hills.
It is getting to the point that I am considering taking the dog to a flatter spot for a walk by driving somewhere. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? xx

Run it. the next time you walk it wont be that bad. Are you doing any other exercises? Start working on your legs and doing more cardio. you will soon have no problems.0

If you are doing it twice a day, everyday, then you haven't given your muscles time to rest so they can rebuild. Maybe driving to a flatter location for a while will be beneficial.0

Well, it's only been two weeks. It takes quite a bit longer than that to grow accustomed to something. Also, like gypsyrose mentioned, since your muscles are not used to this, they are becoming exhausted. They do need rest. I went through this myself. I tried power walking every day for an hour and was just growing weaker and weaker, the walks got harder and I was losing whatever agility I started with. Maybe do it every other day, and as you find it getting easier keep pushing yourself bit by bit, go longer, go faster, etc. etc. I also, personally, like to take weekends off, exercise wise. It gives me a little extra recooperation time. I don't like to be completelyyy inactive, so on my off days (every other day & weekends), I do half an hour of cardio and/or strength training.0
