Body Fat, Muscle, Water?

I bought a new set of scales the other day and weighed myself today.
Now, apart from my actual weight it tells me my Body Fat %, Water % and Muscle %

I bought these scales because I wanted to improve on all of these but I'm finding it hard to find out what is a healthy range of each?
I'm 24 years old, 5'8" and around 161lbs at the moment.

It is saying that:

Body Fat = 26.9%
Body Muscle = 36.9%
Body Water = 52.3%

BMI = 24.8

I'm not so worried about the BMI as I'm basing that around how I feel but I would like to improve on the others if I can.
I know I won't be able to increase my body muscle % anytime soon because of my hip and lack of exercise until thats sorted.

How do I know whether I'm in a healthy range for the others?!

It sound about right to me :-)
Ages ago when I had home scales that measured fat muscle and water it was roughly the same as yours now, and I'd done weight training so knew that I must've had some muscle there. I was 5"8 and around 145-150lbs then.

I'd be wondering about the scale itself though - my weight tended to change so much even within a few seconds so I knew it was inaccurate. What also confused me was that like with yours the %'s didn't add up to 100 (I don't know if there's a reason for this but shouldn't it do?) How yours are now add up to 116.1%.

I have scales that do the same thing, they don't add up to 100 either wouldn't worry about it, it's all just a rough outline on %. It's a great guideline though

They dont add up to 100% because both fat and muscle contain water within them.

It isnt adding up to 100 because of bone and other organs also. those scales can actually be really inaccurate but yours sounds about right

I'd be interested to see other peoples stats if you have scales that do the same?

Can I improve on these figures?
I know when I'm able to work out I will be able to know whether muscle training will increase my muscle perctentage but I won't be able to do that for a while.
Should the body water % be about half or should it be more or less?
And what about body fat? Should I aim to decrease this number? The more weight I lose the less body fat I have right?!

I had one of those scales, but it broke. But before I started losing weight my stats were:

    5'8 178 lbs
    Body Fat: 29.1%
    Muscle Mass: 35.2%
Water percentage: 50-52%, I think? I never really paid attention to it.
My BMI was somewhere in the 26's

I would really like to see what it says now!
