when you do ab exercises do you pull your navel in to your spine or do you let your stomach puff out and go through the motions. I have heard when doing abs that you should really pull your stomach in. I find this difficult to do haha but that might be why your stomach is tight but poking out a bit. Just a thought not completely sure.

If you have fat around your abdomen, you can build muscle and it will feel solid, but the fat is underneath. As you lose fat, that will go away. It is possible to do too many crunches just like it's possible to do too much of any exercise, but you probably aren't. About the bloating, try adding more potassium to your diet. There are supplements, but you can also add lemon juice to your water and eat potassium-rich foods. There are lists online that tell which are highest. The balance of potassium and sodium in your body is essential to keeping you from holding excess water.
