Hi everybody!
I have a quick question about weighing meat. When I record the ounces of meat I ate do I weigh the meat after or before cooking?? Thank you in advance

Before cooked weight. So I don't have to weigh it raw, I have done an experiment with chicken and it lost around 20% weight after cooking. Of course this could vary a little depending on cooking times/temps.0

I weigh it after, I guess I just never wanted to put raw chicken on the scale...lol. Plus, unless it's a big portion of meat, the weight isn't going to change that drastically after being cooked.0

I always weigh it before cooking, but I never put it directly on the scale. I always put a plate down, then 'zero' the scale before adding the meat.0

I almost always weigh before. But I don't know what the weights given for calorie estimations are on the database. My scale tares so I put a bowl or plate on the scale, then put the meat in the bowl or on the plate to measure. That ends up washed right away. If I am cooking a LARGE piece of meat that will be portioned after cooking, then I will weigh it after cooking. But, if I am weighing a personal portion (one chicken breast or pork chop or fish fillet, I just weigh it beforehand.0
