Can anyone recommend a good heart rate monitor that shows calories burned?

    I love my Polar FT4!

    But whichever one you do choose, make sure it has the chest strap and isn't just a watch one... the watch ones are less accurate. :happy:

    Some of them are plastic/fabric, my old one is. But I got a new one and it's 100% fabric all around and the monitor snaps in place onto the fabric band. I don't even know I have it on.

    Polar FT4 or Ft7.. both are excellent HRM's that will count calories burned.

    I think most of the newer Polar ones are fabric strap with a detachable transmitter. I was so excited when I got my new HRM and it was the fabric strap. I have an FT4 and love it.

    So your FT4 is all fabric? I just don't want one of the plastic ones cause I found them to be uncomforatble but Polar is a fit more affordable then Garmin

    Yup! The only plastic part is the trasmitter that snaps onto the strap.
