So I'm sitting at work right now and I litterally have my head in my hand and half asleep. I have to sit here for another 4.5 hours and its soooo hard to stay awake when you really have nothing to do. I work at a college library (im a student) and theres not much i can do if noone asks me for help which is rare that they do).

Does anyone know any food or anything that could help me liven up? Even at home I'm half asleep most of the day. I think its because of medicine I'm on but I cant change the medicine.

Can you get up and walk around near your desk...that might wake you up a little. Also when you go to the bathroom do jumping jacks or march in place to get your blood pumping. That's what usually works for me.

I go through the same thing. I do the Cubicle Workout. It's like 8 excercises that you can do right where you are. I have been doing it now for about 2 weeks. It keeps me from going to sleep. I'm new to this but once I figure everything out i will try to upload it. I googled it.

This was my experience and so yours may be different but I used to work a night shift job and was always tired so I ate to keep myself awake. Avoid the food trap. Studies show that it is a vicious cycle. We're tired so we crave comfort foods (typically carbs) which make us feel satisfied and sleepy. If you're tired, try not to eat to cure it. That's where my 80lbs came from. A healthy, balanced diet, proper rest and exercise will help. And be patient until you're off the meds.

Unfortunatly the meds might be a life long thing. I have something called trigeminal neuralgia. Im in pain 24/7 and have a headach and sometimes upgrades to mirgain all the time. I cant really do a little workout where I am cause Id be to embarassed. im out in the open. I used to turn to food too but I refuse to do that anymore :) I cant have coffee or tea or really anything that has caffeeine cause i have ibs and it just doesnt go well. I'll try the cold water :)

have you tried the 5 hour energy drink? It has worked for me at times but I don't drink it all the time. I usually just make myself move around but I have kids so they always get me to move around. I also like ice coffee. That helps too.

OMG I have neuralgia as well. Thankfully mine is not as bad. I don't have the aches anymore but the left side of my face feels like I just left the dentist and the novocaine hasn't worn off. My teeth occasionally ache & my left nostril just doesn't function. Fortunately the headaches seemed to have stopped, but I think part of that is because I gave up coffee and try to eat clean.
In fact what helps me is eating as little processed foods as possible, making sure I eat breakfast and drinking water. My day goes better when my breakfast has protein in it.

Energy drinks are just sugar and caffeine which is why they give you headaches. I would focus on energy producing foods. Try getting more "super foods" into your diet. A small snack of nuts and berries may be the energy boost you need and can be prepared ahead of time and carried in snack bags.
