Hi, mine name is Jess and i need to lose weight LOL

BUT i've been doing MFP and have cut my daily calories in half (i had been nursing and never quit eating as much as i wanted) but i'm not losing any weight. I am so disappointed and depressed. Is my body just resetting? do i need to not eat all my calories?

Has it been a while since having your baby or are you still working in the first few months/year? Make sure you are eating ENOUGH... I have found that I was SERIOUSLY undereating for YEARS! I would work out on top of starving and never lost anything! Make sure if you are working out that you eat those extra exercise calories.

I agree you are probably under-eating. I lose weight easiest when I make sure to eat the calories I'm supposed to, and make sure to eat most of the extra calories that I burn. Otherwise I think your body overcompensates and goes into starvation mode. Remember slow and steady wins the race. :) Good luck.

Hang on in there! Sometimes, all you need is perseverance. Make sure you eat the proper food if you are nursing. This is your top priority - hey, it's so wonderful to have a child! Don't let this media pressure get to you: "X has lost her pregnancy weight in 2 months". That is NONSENSE! They are not parents, they are stars!

So just stick with it and you'll get there. If you aren't overweight, then losing might be slower. Take it one day at a time. Believe in yourself! You can and will do it! :flowerforyou:

my son is 18 mos but i just weaned him 6 weeks ago. I was NOT one of the lucky ones who got skinny while nursing.

I eat all my calories on here everyday, but I do daycare and have six kids, 2 school drop offs/pickups a day, etc so i wonder if i burn more than i think?

wait, you cut your calories in half? Does that mean you're only eating half of what MFP tells you to  if so that is your problem. Up your calories hunny! :flowerforyou:
  • Ya know, I feel your pain.....don't be discouraged just yet. Remember it takes your body atleast 9 months (the same as how long it took to make your adorable baby) to hormonally balance out maybe even longer if you just stopped breast feeding. So your body is trying to adjust to all of those crazy hormones. Some people lose it faster than others....here are some suggestions.

    1) Eat every three hours, no longer than that. Your blood sugar rises and releases glucose in your body to produce energy - therefore, keeping you overweight. Make sure the meals are small....but enough to fill you up until the next 2 - 3 hours come along.

    2) You should not eating any processed foods....that is only putting more stress and sugar on and in your body. Eat plenty of whole grains and plenty of vegies....

    3) Stay away from all sugar that is not naturally made....therefore, stay away from again anything processed.

    4) Try to eat protein at every meal, even almonds just a few, or some lowfat string cheese, (although try to stay away from dairy also, keep it at a minimum, it is very difficult for our bodies to digest dairy...
but the protein should also stabalize that blood sugar so that it does not turn into fat. Your body will therefore be able to burn off fat rather than the muscle that you have.

GOOD LUCK, I hope this helps a little.

    Hmmm....
First, your body could still be recovering from being pregnant, having a baby, stopping nursing, etc. So, don't freak out too much. It can take several years for our bodies to fully recover from giving birth.

You may want to double cheek to see if you are in the right activity level. You may be doing more then you realize. Also, make sure you aren't too far below you BMR. I didn't lose weight until I got closer to THAT number then the one initially given by MFP. Did that make sense?

    thanks ladies!!!

i didn't cut my recommended calories in half....they are half of what i USED to eat. I ate A LOT like a whole bag or oreos at once and regular food all day.

I am currently 160lbs and 5foot7 and i would like to get down to 130 but am ok doing it slow...but i want some positive measurements. so frustrating.

    You'll get there!
If you are wanting to maybe get in some workouts....
Walking is EXCELLENT! That is how I lost my post baby weight (which was already on top of being overweight). It also isn't super overwhelming to start with and you can do it with baby, just bundle him up and off you go! Just remember to eat those extra calories you burn! :flowerforyou:

I was also not one of those lucky ones to lose weight while nursing. My 17-month-old stopped nursing about 3 1/2 months ago, and I've lost about 12 lbs since then. I think some people's bodies just hold onto fat while we're nursing, and it takes a little while to readjust. And going back to eating like a 'normal' person is HARD, after more than 2 years of being pregnant and breastfeeding! Hang in there, it'll happen!
